We condemn such attacks!!! The media has already instilled a great fear into people, telling covered women to stay at home! For goodness sake. I've just watched the news - are people aware of the Arab/Muslim community in Edgeware Rd? What about Aldgate East? Our hearts are with all involved in yesterday's disaster.

I was fairly pleased with how some of the media and politicians have handled this. I've seen a lot more of them explaining to the public that this is nothing to do with Muslims or Islam then seen after sept 11.

Some ignorant tosser in the pub I work in was saying last night how wes should boycott all the kebab shops/Indian take aways over this as it's "their sort" that do this kind of thing. I did go mental at him. It's amost like saying all white people are like Harold Shipman/Fred West or all Germans are Nazi supporters. I hate those kind of generalisations. They are extremely dangerous.

as has been mentioned on the "what do you love about london" thread...we've all been affected by the tube/bus bombings...whoever has done this has done it to all londoners. the area i live in has turkish, hassidic jews, algerian (and other) muslims and large afro caribbean communities (as well as plenty of wasps) all living within just a couple of miles of each other. many of these people, like me, use the piccadilly line every morning..you only have to look around the tube carriage to realise that each part of london has its own rich mix of communities and i wouldn't have it any other way.

these ignorant pillocks drive me mental!! when i read and see on the news about these terrorist attacks, i hate it when they say muslim extremists - i have never heard the news report on the ira as catholic extremists!

they are just terrorists, why cant people just keep the normal ordinary muslim person out of it? as far as i can see, the muslims in our communities are as devestated and outraged by this as any every other person within our commuities!

and now the rotten element in our society is going to use this as a weak excuse to go out and attack innocent people that they think look as though they might be muslim.

Some stupid woman sitting next to me in a restaurant today was wittering on about Muslims and how they are all to blame for what happened yesterday.
After an hour of listening to her twisted and racist comments DH had no option but to ask her to shut up.
People at the table opposite us applauded my DH when he let rip on the small minded woman.
She got up and left....we were eating in an indian restaurant where many of the waiters are Muslim. They felt very uncomfortable with the things she was saying.
Some of our dearest friends follow the Muslim faith and they are just as appauld as we are by yesterdays events.

The attacks in London weren't done by Muslims. They may have been done "in the name of" but by people who have no idea of the true meaning of any kind of religion

Sorry - this is an old thread now but..
I was quite exasperated by the serious media on Thu and fri - ALL lowered their voice and dutifully worried about the backlash - but none gave any specific, highlighted coverage to the many credible Muslim leaders who made powerful speeches against the atrocities and expresssing sympathy and solidarity with victims.
BBC news gave some coverage, but it was as an aside, buried in a tragic human-interest case of a famliy who had a missing daughter.
Why didn't they straight away allow the voice of the muslim-majority to be heard, loud and clear?
That would have been the first and most important step in forestalling the backlash that so many white liberal heads shook over.
