...in the 'sad case' sense of the word

this guy here

I struggle to understand why the Times would even publish this

What purpose does it serve?

Yes, I read that yesterday and wondered what he was trying to prove. So, people can be "closet" straights too? Or closet bisexuals? Big deal.

Bit premature to declare yourself straight before you've actually done the deed with a member of the opposite sex isn't it?
I think he is a little confused.

thedollshouse · 19/01/2010 15:01

I think he likes the idea of being hetrosexual. He dreams of the perfect nuclear family, perhaps nostalgic of his childhood. There was nothing in the article that convinced me that he was straight.

squeaver · 19/01/2010 15:03

Oh yes saw it yesterday and, tbh, I thought he was a bit of a prat.

And the whole "I must be straight because I want to have children" thing VERY odd.

shonaspurtle · 19/01/2010 15:10

Sounds all like a little bit of self-loathing to me . I feel quite sorry for the "girl down the pub" whom he seems to be steeling himself to fancy.

"Bit premature to declare yourself straight before you've actually done the deed with a member of the opposite sex isn't it?"

I'm not really commenting on this man in particular but isn't the above exactly what most teenagers do?

They know what they like without ever actually having had it.

MrsMattie · 19/01/2010 15:17

My thoughts exactky@shonaspurtle.

And what about the poor woman from the Ukraine "I didn't want our children to glow in the dark". Nice.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 19/01/2010 16:20

I get what you are saying BadgersPaws, but I didn't get any impression from that feature that he really fancied the women he was talking about getting involved with. There was a certain "Brace yourself, Bridget" quality about it.

What a charming husband he will make for the girl he marries because he "quite like girls" and fancies the idea of being a family man. Now that would drive me absolutely wild with desire. Not.
