here

I find this really scary along with other similar stuff on helicopter parents. I had a very over controlling mother though (luckily this stuff wasn't seen as acceptable when I went to university). She has interfered in sis's jobs before now though.

Is this being overplayed in the media or is there as much of it about as seems to be portrayed.

I encountered some of it as a parent when ds was in preschool but as he left and we moved haven't come across much of it since. Is it a social pressure thing? More prevelant in some areas than others?

Oh I saw that article too Armadillo.

Very creepy indeed to be interfering in your adult child's life to such an extent. However, I'm not surprised.

I work in an organisation that deals with students and we get a very high proportion of parents contacting us to sort things out because their son/daughter is far too busy getting pissed , stoned , laid studying to deal with their own issues.

I'm in my mid thirties now and would have been mortified to have my parents interfering in my life to that exten.

I suppose that if you are forking out thousands of pounds on your child's education, you might want to make sure you are getting your moneys worth. Bit extreme though, sleeping on the floor in halls.
