Oh it's all a load of bollocks. Yes things on here get out of hand sometimes, but they would do. There are a lot of us and we won't agree on anything everything. But ultimately it's a huge source of support, information and entertainment.

The people writing comments on there are just humourless thickets who are too fluffy bunny to understand what MN is all about. Sod the lot of them.

Merrylegs · 27/11/2009 15:00

T'other day I was mooting that mumsnet may be in danger of jumping the shark...

Justine, I think we're going to need a bigger boat.....

EdgarAllenPoo · 27/11/2009 15:06

also didn't bother red/green arrowing at leisure this morning..

blinks · 27/11/2009 15:18

i don't shop in boden, i get all my clothes from the dumpsters behind strip joints.

i am not only childless, i fucking hate children. if i had one i would feed it irn bru and pies from tins.

i think anything fancy or posh like vegetables, breadmakers or ponchos are un-british.

it's taken this article to make me realise that i don't fit in here at snobsnet so i will be posting only in the comments section of the dailymail from this day forth.

thanks sarah for showing me the way.

Who has still got her kid in nappies aged 4?

I found the recent thread about the woman who gave her disabled child away to foster parents (discussed here in AIBU)particularly smug, unsympathetic and distasteful.
As mothers there seems little support or understanding amongst us.

well post like that one might just prove the DM right

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 15:34

What do you mean 2shoes? The DM is frequently slated (and rightly so) for it's judgemental views.
I felt the woman in question (sorry, can't remember her name) who gave her daughter to a foster mother as she felt unable to cope was judged unfairly and harshly on here by many people who thankfully will never have to be in her situation.
Anyway, that was just one example of smug, judemental attitudes.
The BF/foruma debate rumbles on and on and on here and the views are often highly judemental, patronising and appear to me (as a real life previous BFer) to be completely OTT and quite frankly bordering on the hysterical.

well you've obviously never been on any other parenting forums then - as this is an eternal debate that has been going on for as long parenting forums have existed,

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 15:44

I agree it's a common and tedious theme on most parenting websites but I've seen some particularly extreme and hurtful options bandied about here. On other sites it appears the moderators step in sooner.
On Babyword if you swear and say the word bugger"...shocking I know, they change it to rascal*.
I think threads get out of hand here and do descend into playground bullying at times.
Sad when it's mothers doing it.

alwayslookingforanswers · 27/11/2009 15:45

oooooo - I've just seen that my comment I posted last night was published - and 32 people have given it a thumbs up

I've seen similary harsh comments on many other forums (I think I've tried most of them at one time or another and am still a "member" of them all)

DanDruff · 27/11/2009 15:48

god that is a dul article

go and talk somethign else

RockBird · 27/11/2009 15:51

I love a good tinned pie...

That pastry, mmmmm

DuelingFanjo · 27/11/2009 15:54

"Im sure mumsnet wouldn't like people to mention Bounty in such favourable terms, after all, we are just a group for single and young mums for our high usage of text talk.

Yes mumsnet. We have seen your numerous threads.

This is why we agree with the article."

Me from Melville seems a bit put out. Do people come on to mumsnet from other sites to check out if their forum is being picked on then?

seems a bit of a waste of precious time to me, trying to keep an eye on 'rival' sites whilst being an active member of your own prefered online community!

Am guessing that thre are threads about this article on 'rival' sites and so mumsnetters are not the only ones twiddling with the green and red arrows

Maybe we ALL need to get a life!

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 15:55

I also think the article in the DM was a bit harsh but there was some truth in it.
Does no one else agree? Really?

SmugPatronisingAndVicious · 27/11/2009 15:56

"I think threads get out of hand here and do descend into playground bullying at times.

Nobody is being nasty to children though, are they? I kind of think that mothers, as adult human beings, are entitled to, um, have juvenile conversations as much as anybosy else. Or did you grow a halo after they wheeled you out of the delivery room? I sure didn't.

DuelingFanjo · 27/11/2009 15:59

"Wow, Finally someone who has publicly spoken out about mumsnet" Bounty Rocks.. Boo mumsnet, london.

Yes, finally, FINALLY someone has dared to SPEAK OUT about mumsnet. Finally Mumsnet has been exposed. FINALLY! Hooray for the Daily mail. FINALLY SOMEONE CARES about Mumsnet and the evil it spreads ROFL!

No really... some people DO need to get a life this is all completely ridiculous. Not only is Sarah the eminent journalist from the Daily Mail getting her knickers in a twist but other forums throughout the land are standing up and making theimselves known, breaking through the evil Tyranny of Mumsnet.

for you

and you

ScaredOfCows · 27/11/2009 16:00

Pleased I'm not the only one finding Alison from Ilkeston a little tedious.

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 16:01

I doubt they'll be discussing it on Babyworld. They're too busy debating whether you should rinse your pots before putting them in the dishwasher or not.

DuelingFanjo · 27/11/2009 16:02

Skips off to join Bounty - the people on there sound really nice and have done such a brilliant job of advertising their forum. Am sure the owners/creators of the site are wxtremely pleased with the positive marketing done today by Bounty menbers. ta-ra.

scottishmummy · 27/11/2009 16:03

well some might not likey but there is truth in her article

MN is wonderfully diverse and funny and overall a laugh BUT there are some bulging eyed scary zealots and monomaniacs too

dont believe me?well i suggest you meander through the ole perennials to see ire and bile

babies in nursery posts
working mums
formula feeding

or start a post saying you fell out with your dp and someone will rock up, shouting about male hegemony.someone else will shout "leave him"

RoysRolls · 27/11/2009 16:04

And engaging in light hearted banter with other adults is very different from bullying other adults.
I have seen both senarios on here, particularly the latter on AIBU.

PuzzleRocks · 27/11/2009 16:05

BB - Done.

WFH - I have been red arrowed on The Hate Mail. DH will be so proud.

PuzzleRocks · 27/11/2009 16:06

Wrong thread.

SmugPatronisingAndVicious · 27/11/2009 16:11

RoysRolls- can you give me an example of this bullying please? I am not trying to be facetious, but I don't see that kind of thing much here. If you comment on anything on YouTube, for example, you might see it, or IMDB. They call you a cretinous fuckhead there as soon as look at you. Here, people tend to just disagree.
