I hate how we're all middle class mums.

I'm neither middle class nor a mum but have always felt welcomed by MN.

Unlike NM where meet ups were always about "meeting other mums" instead of meeting other like-minded people.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/11/2009 12:32

Fanjo - Yes, so did Zepherine.

I didn't assume that - I think it would be stupid of any mumsnetter to take a person's "real" mumsnet posting name and pretend to be that poster and use it elsewhere on the internet. Wouldn't it be libellous or something?

I assumed it was actually her. Perhaps I am gullible?

DuelingFanjo · 27/11/2009 12:32

and I farking love this comment

"That's the trouble with women. If you don't give them enough housework to do, their minds start to wander and they say stupid things"

If not libellous then definitely bitchy

I think whoever posted it probably thinks the Journalist is the person who came on talking about formula in Capitals and was trying to make a point.

Oh I want to know now

Yes, I assumed it was one of us taking the piss. I asked that earlier in fact.

FlappyTheBat · 27/11/2009 12:40

I think there is a little bit of jealousy going on here!

She's jealous of all us "cool girls" because we didn't let her hang out with us.

So what better way of getting back at us than writing a really clever piece of journalism

I might just have to "punctuate my witterings with smiley faces" even more now

FlappyTheBat · 27/11/2009 12:41

meant to add that she should really leave this type of discussion where it belongs, in the playground!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 27/11/2009 12:44

aww sounds as if someone's thrown all her toys out of her uber trendy highly expensive pram..

I'm only good at three things in life - being "smug, patronising and vicious". It has served me well so far.

Can MNers stop going on to that article and posting positively about mumsnet.

It is a gift from the Gods that The Daily mail tell their regular readers that this site is shit - then Jane from Hove and Jennie from Glasgow will fuck off to www.racistrightwingmums.com and leave us alone....

Please don't try and talk them out of it.

MadameDefarge · 27/11/2009 13:11

I'm a little confused....this article was written for the Daily Mail, whose core readership is, um, let me think, Boden-wearing middle-class mums with hard-core attitudes.....surely they would love this fantasy version of MN?

And btw the way, well done to Netmum's for getting the bf message out this week in the media...

In some circumstances it's united we stand....

ThisCharmingFlan · 27/11/2009 13:13

I mentioned this article to my mother who said "well darling, if the Daily Mail don't like it then you lot must me doing something right"

I love my Mum

CatIsSleepy · 27/11/2009 13:14

i've just said it on another thread but i'll say it again

i do wish the DM would sod right off

AngryFromManchester · 27/11/2009 13:14

"I hate how we're all middle class mums"

I think this comment may have sopmething to do with the fact mumsnet was in another media article this week stating how 75% of their membership were degree educated and the insinuation of 'its posters' throughout the article.

Ha,ha I wonder if we could ask Boden to make us some nice canvas bags with the slogan "Don't f**k with me, I'm a Mumsnetter!"

I want that bag!!!

(with appropriate waterproof section for my cloth nappies, of course)

southeastastra · 27/11/2009 13:41

it's really depressing reading it all back again. who is andrea?

LilyBolero · 27/11/2009 13:41

Actually I DO think MN can be smug, patronising and vicious. It can be great too, but when the MN masses turn on someone it is not pretty.

I think it can also be quite bullying, and I do think people hide behind their user names.

southeastastra · 27/11/2009 13:42

did she only look at AIBU i wonder, because i don't see lots of bullying really
