I knew it

Reading that makes me feel a whole lot better! Still need to get a cleaner in before Christmas!

preggersplayspop · 23/11/2009 15:34

I do have a cleaner, but I am really not bothered when DS comes home from nursery or the park completely mucky - I think it shows he has had a good time. I never really get those people that follow their LOs around with antibacterial handwipes!

yeah, but apparently the hygiene hypothesis doesn't just apply to dirt and bacteria - what you really need for a great immune system is a load of parasites. eek. Not sure I'm prepared to put up with threadworms in order to protect ds's future health!

UpsyOne · 26/11/2009 21:36

I think it's important to maintain a balance. No ones home is sterile so while I will allow DS to eat a piece of toast he has picked up of the floor, I won't allow anyone to wear shoes in the house.

I will let him play away to hearts content in the soft-play, toddler groups and parks but won't let him eat anything with his hands or put his hands in his mouth until he's washed his hands or they've had a quick wipe over with the anti-bac wipes.

I think these reports are great for people who are constantly spraying their homes with disinfencant and the poor kids are breathing in the fumes, but I also think that people can take it to the extreme and become lazy with their hygiene and quote parrot fashion "a few germs are good for them". Which is a correct, a few - not all.

Why are scientists always so bloody slow in spotting things like this?

Seriously, how many times do the majority of people simply say, 'no shit sherlock!' when another report is published!
