Babies & toddlers at risk from 'gender-bending' chemicals in sun-cream, rubber products etc - report

"Two-year-old children are being exposed to dangerous levels of hormone-disrupting chemicals in domestic products such as rubber clogs and sun creams, according to an EU investigation being studied by the government.

The 327-page report says that while risks from "anti-androgen" and "oestrogen-like" substances in individual items have been recognised, the cumulative impact of such chemicals, particularly on boys, is being ignored."

"Phthalates, one of the main anti-androgen chemicals, which are used as softeners in soap, rubber shoes, bath mats and soft toys, have been blamed for blocking the action of testosterone in the womb and are alleged to cause low sperm counts, high rates of testicular cancer and malformations of the sexual organs.

Research has suggested that male foetuses around 8-12 weeks after conception can be effectively demasculinised by exposure to such chemicals."

Don't be silly. The greatest risk to little boys is of course FEMINISM! Which is magically making all their willies fall off. Women must immediately get back in the home and stop using microwaves and any kind of labour saving product, and shun contraception as well!

i agree, don't use anything with parabens in for ds or me and most people think i'm mad! hopefully more people will become aware but don't think our government care too much. things still allowed here are banned in other eu countries!

Agree phthlates are bad. But I had to post this:

What put me off about this story was that (and I fully accept the BBC may have edited the report to reflect what they thought their readers might understand, patronising gits that they tend to be) their definition of reduced masculinity was lack of interest in cars, guns, trains etc, and being less likely to playfight. In that case could someone please explain my DH, who has no interest in cars, trains or sports, and my DD, who loves rough & tumble games, especially wrestling?
