I know it's unfashionable, but I love him. Has anyone seen him on this tour? What time is he on stage? Just got tickets for Thursday and am very excited but alarmed at email saying gates open at 17.00!

Thanks

Can I just say how insanely jealous I am??? I would so love to see him live, but what with a lack of funds and the worlds worst pregnancy I will have to wait for the next time round.

Tinker, have a fantastic time. I can't believe I let him appear at Crystal Palace, only about six miles away from home, and did not book tickets. But all the seating had gone by the time I got my act together and at 7 months pg could not face standing for four hours like I did at 16 on The River Tour.
I think the set is only about 2hrs these days - Broooce is getting old like the rest of us. So I can't believe you really need to be there at 5pm....unless you're planning on doing a Courteney.
We want a full report afterwards. He is the Boss, after all.

Oooh, you lucky duck, Tinker!! The show has had a great review (all three hours of it, apparently!) so I'm green with envy now. He's just sex on two legs, isn't he??

GRMUM · 28/05/2003 08:11

You lucky, lucky thing.Look forward to hearing about it.

jodee · 28/05/2003 08:34

I SAW HIM YESTERDAY!!!!! Marina, I hope you don't feel too gutted - my Mother had bought me surprise tickets as a belated birthday present and only told me last week! He was, of course, FANTASTIC and played for 3 hours - we'd started to head out of the stadium after the second encore had finished, and he came on again, so we dashed back! So the show ran from 7.30-10.30pm. I was standing, but we managed to get a spot on the wall surrounding the running track so it wasn't that bad. He played A LOT from The Rising, and some of the old faves, not forgetting Born to Run - I LOVE YOU BRUCE!!

Have a great time, Tinker!

Marina · 28/05/2003 09:31

Jodee, I am very pleased for you, honest so glad one of us made it to CP! There was was a rave review in the papers today - never seen a rock journalist so uncritically adoring on paper. I do feel that Patti Scialfa is no better than she should be though.

pie · 28/05/2003 09:34

I can't believe you people...getting to see him.

I hope you all realise the extent of my misery as I tell you that my natural keyboard has pools and rivers of tears littering it.

Tinker · 28/05/2003 09:54

pie - it's the 5th time I'll have seen him! Sorry, sorry, sorry, shouldn't have said that! Still, could all go wrong, checked internet yesterday for ticets and got them that way - could be fleeced yet.

Jodee - glad you had a fab time. 7.30 sounds more like it. Haven't given a thought about what to do about my daughter yet - ho hum

Marine - 'no better than she should be'. What a great phrase - is it as b**y as it sounds

And I'm going to the Champions League final tonight! My annual social life in one week, I tell you.

I wish....

Marina · 28/05/2003 10:31

Absolutely Tinker. Since when did the mighty E Street Band need a girl playing a tambourine? Very firmly in the tradition of Linda McCartney yowling away in the background of the Wings recordings (not that I was a fan), I feel. Or the immortal Janine ("Australian's nightmare" in Spinal Tap. Sure you will not have been fleeced but after your 5-times revelation I can feel my eyes welling up like Pie's...

Tinker · 28/05/2003 10:47

She can sing though Marina. What I do really like though, is that Bruce ditched a stunner for a normal looking girl. She represents all our hopes Actually, I don't fancy him, never have, was always a Little Steven fan. Now have you seen his wife......

OP posts:
Marina · 28/05/2003 11:10

Yes, that is very true Tinker, she is a professional musician and she is also a normal gal, unlike that Julianne minx. So reluctant respect to Patti, it's just that he chose the wrong normal gal. This from someone who wished she was Bruce's first, disastrous love Joyce when she was 16, so that she could undo all the hurt, etc, etc, yawn yawn.
What does Little Steven's wife look like, I quail at the thought...

suedonim · 28/05/2003 16:18

Five times, Tinker??? We've been trying to see him for over 25 years and never yet got a ticket!! Where's the justice in that?? Kuh, some people have all the luck!

I'm glad someone else has b**y feelings towards Patti, too, tee hee. He'd be much happier with me.

Tinker · 28/05/2003 16:34

Just to make you more sick, told a friend today that I was going and he told me that he had spare tickets going FOR FREE! Actually, I've just made myself sick at that.

Right, right, that's it, Tinker! I'm storming off in a huff, now!! 'SNOT FAIR, STOMP, STOMP!!!

Tinker · 30/05/2003 10:19

Well, what can I say? Absolutely fantastic, great balmy night for this. Did most of new album but loads of old ones - Sandy, Candy's Room (personal fave here), Jungleland, Out on the Streets. Best bit was introducing the band during Meet me at Mary's Place - did excellent preacher routine, being incredibly silly towards mock frosty Patti 'this usually works at home'. Became instant fantasy husband. Was on for over 3 hours. But best bit was converting a reluctant boyfiend whose usual response to BS is 'Oh god!'. Can't wait til he's back

I am turning GREEN...

Marina · 30/05/2003 10:43

Me too, Grmum. We're so glad you enjoyed yourselves, you lucky Tinker you!
Bruce does not seem to be popular with partners for some reason. Dh is very disrespectful when I put The River on.

jodee · 30/05/2003 16:28

Marina, what sacrilege! My dh isn't impressed either ... but I have now converted my Mum, who had never been to a pop concert in her life (Cliff Richard doesn't count, Mum!) and she was positively swooning!

Tinker, Bruce did that corny line to Patti on Tuesday as well - that preacher routine was great, wasn't it!

suedonim · 30/05/2003 17:08

Just to be different, it was my DH who converted me to Bruce. He was pig-sick when I told him about the free tickets!! I think we have that preacher bit on a DVD somewhere, it's great. (As you can see, Tinker, I'm over my huff - I just couldn't keep away and in fact was wondering whether you'd enjoyed yourself while I was shopping today! )

CP1 · 14/07/2003 12:29

whymummy · 14/07/2003 21:16
