Moondog I suspect the reason people are concerned about an articulate fascist is that a 'clever' fascist is the worst, most frightening kind.

electra · 22/10/2009 19:32

daftpunk - what is it that you object to about a multicultural Britain?

bodycolder · 22/10/2009 19:32

As the percentage of people in this country who agree with his disgusting views is so small surely it would be easier to finance sending them all off to live together in their ignorance and then the rest of us can get on with getting on.

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 22/10/2009 19:33

I suspect it more to do with judgement and that maybe people think that people with views that agree with the BNP should all be uneducated ruffian knuckle draggers.

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:34

Well said bodycooler!
If He got into power I would emmigrate -provided he would allow that.

twirlymum · 22/10/2009 19:34

Trouble is, I don't think the percentage is that small. The turnout for the last election (european) was very poor.
I think the general election will see a far higher turnout.

kate1956 · 22/10/2009 19:36

I always think it's a bit bizarre when people say that anti-fascists are as bad as fascist err so those opposing the gas chamber were as bad as the SS then? Have people really not learned the lessons of history - i mean you can see the battle of cable street on youtube for goodness sake - presumably some people think iy would have been fine to let Oswald Mosely's blackshirts march through the Jewish East End.

For evil to triumph all it takes is for good people to do nothing!

I'm firmly with the anti-fascists and proud of it - and for anyone interested the English Defence League will be trying to march in Leeds on sat oct 31st to propagate their disgusting ant-muslim propaganda. There is a peaceful counter demonstration to celebrate multi-cultural leeds outside the art gallery that day starting at midday. Please come and join those of us who want to say no to fascism.

daftpunk · 22/10/2009 19:37

electra....i don't want to live in a multicultural society....i don't have to go into reasons why...

but PSM has just told me i have to accept it.....no i don't

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:38

Am I the only person who is increasingly worried about the political climate at the moment?

Look what happened in Nazi Germany. The Jews were made scapegoats for the economic problems of the time. This time it will probably be single mums!

I fear a right wing upsurgence.

electra · 22/10/2009 19:39

'I suspect it more to do with judgement and that maybe people think that people with views that agree with the BNP should all be uneducated ruffian knuckle draggers.'

No, SqueezyCheese - I think most people will look for a reason that explains why someone might be misguided enough to be openly racist. When an educated person is openly racist, it is far more of a chilling prospect to contemplate because you realise that some part of that person's humanity is missing. And perhaps they are evil.

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:41

Like Hitler, NG is not blonde haired with blue eyes but he has the same views. Scary, horrid little man.

Wonderstuff · 22/10/2009 19:42

Interesting article in the torygraph.
I do think that the increased demand for social housing is due inpart to the massive increase in house prices as well, I am a teacher living in the SE and I am on the wait list for social housing, the bar in my area is at about £60K, which is a sizable family income, we are not even in London, I guess you could argue that this inflation in house prices is linked to an increased demand?. I also think that the exchange rate has a lot to do with E. Europe immigration, lots of Poles and others have left since the pound crashed. Although I do agree with most of the article. I'm suprised that European migration is only a third of migration though.

We do need a sensible debate, I still think that most BNP voters are out and out racist rather than 'left behind' by labour.

bodycolder · 22/10/2009 19:42

Evil electra and riddled with fear and self doubt deep down

daftpunk · 22/10/2009 19:43

i want children in this country to celebrate St.Georges day..

but they have to celebrate Diwali and other foreign stuff...why..?

why should a school with 85% white British children have to celebrate a Hindu fesitval..?

Mamazonabroomstick · 22/10/2009 19:45

DAFTPUNK - Move to Iran then

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:45

Wasn't hitler an intellectual. I know he was a failed artist and he was also an amazing orator.

When the economy is bust people will always look for scapegoats and aswell as bankers, immigrants are being targeted.

Thw whole world has become a melting pot. Thank God. Who wants to be stuck on an isolationist little island anyway? What excatly does ''British'' mean and why do we care?

Technology is such that the world has oppened right up and we can be in Auatralia in a day. I applaud that and I think that with global travel and communications as it is we should embrace multi-culturalism as a move away from the dark ages.

bodycolder · 22/10/2009 19:47

The doctor who discovered my heart defect was a young iranian woman Thank god for her otherwise I would still be the walking ticking time bomb

daftpunk · 22/10/2009 19:47

Mamazon.....don't have to...half of them are living here..

CatIsSleepy · 22/10/2009 19:48

hmm
st george
wasn't he turkish?

Mamazonabroomstick · 22/10/2009 19:49

Why shouldn't white children learn about a hindu festival?

yes i agree that we as a country should celebrate St George's day, but we should celebrate the diversity of this fabulous country rather than fearing possible offense and so causing outrage.

Maybe of the powers that be thought along the same lines there would be less support for Ng and his goons

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:49

I agree that an open door policy is not the best policy but I love the fact that I can go and live and work almost anywhere in Europe if I so wish.

Fruitbeard · 22/10/2009 19:50

Last time I looked we still celebrated St George's day - our local guides and scouts do parades and there's generally some sort of funfair or festival going on over the nearest weekend to it. We also celebrate Diwali with our Hindu neighbours and they celebrate Easter/Christmas with us.

The more parties the better in my book - why do you find this so threatening, DP?

Mamazonabroomstick · 22/10/2009 19:51

and since when has White = British?

Im sorry to say DP that after this thread and your comments on the Daily Mail threads i think you are fast emerging as having a rather unpleasant persona.

just to remind you that UCM was banned for such racist rantings

poshsinglemum · 22/10/2009 19:51

Ok daft punk. You don't have too accept it but you must be freaking right out about the state of the world today!
It must be an awful place for you to live! Mabe get out more. Or mabe you don't want to what with all the multiculturalism out there!

Wonderstuff · 22/10/2009 19:51

We have never celebrated St G's day in this country. He never even stepped foot in the UK!
I fail to see what's wrong with learning about the world we live in by celebrating the festivals of others. We seem to have exported christmas all over the place!
