Very disturbing story - Erskine bridge suicides

here

Heard about this lastnight from someone in the area but didn't see actual news on it until late this morning. I keep thinking about how they were holding hands and what was going through their minds. Really disturbing and so truely sad.

Oh I saw that on the BBC website today - just awful. Poor poor girls . My first thought was why on earth would you open a non-secure home for troubled girls right next to an enormous bridge, I must say.

midnightexpress that was exactly what I thought. Also that if it is a known suicide spot why isn't there a high fence along it?

I thought they had some sort of monitoring on the bridge now after the previous incidents, was also sure that they put in a phone with a direct link to the Samaritans.....although if someone is determined I don't see how the phone would stop them.

The phone is there (both ends I think) and they do everything they can to try to stop people jumping. There are also nets.

My friend lives very near the bridge and unfortunately this happens fairly regularly. So, so sad.

Very sad story. The home is a couple of miles from the bridge. Also don't think high fence would be practical due the height and length of bridge.
