Put a Stop To Car Cloning

I just read an article the country's top car crime police chief is calling for new checks on used vehicles to help combat stolen "car cloning". I am shocked at how frequent this appears to occur and was wondering if anybody had been affected by it, and what was the outcome?

not sold a cloned car, but my brother was once arrested for leaving a petrol station without paying and various other offences.
he had never been to said petrol station and when he demanded to see the vidoe they had it was of a similar car with his number plate (the police had however neglected to notice that the driver was black and my brother is white, so it was fairly easy to prove it wasn't him!)

Really Nancy? That is shocking. I didn't give too much thought to being landed with potential criminal convictions, I was looking at it more from people being sold stolen vehicles etc (in this case, people are generally treated like victims not criminals). I guess there are so many dimensions to this problem, and it really is so widespread.
