A US woman who slept as a pit bull dog chewed the toes off her four-month-old baby's left foot is to face charges.
The mother, Robie Lynn Jenkins, and her boyfriend, Tremayne Spillman, would be charged with felony child abuse, the Onslow County sheriff's office said.
Deputies say the couple were dog-sitting the one-year-old pit bull for a friend who had been arrested on gun charges.
Officials in Jacksonville, North Carolina say Jenkins told investigators she was on medication and did not hear the child crying as the two slept in the same room on Sunday night.
She said she did not notice the injury until she changed the baby's nappy on Monday morning."

I am speechless. Why can't these sort of people be castrated? Protect any further children from suffering at their hands. What if it was crying for milk for a start? Smoke alarms? Gun shots? What else was she oblivious to? That poor, poor baby. Just had to get that off my chest.
