Hmm
BitOfFun · 15/08/2009 00:23

I have quite traumatic memories of being invited to a Hawaiian-themed fancy dress party in February once...I went hard-core in a bikini, lei and grass skirt. The most anybody else did was a casual flower in the hair I looked like the floorshow

AitchTwoOh · 15/08/2009 00:23

she's very pretty. i wonder if she's related to rebecca hardy, who is 100% proof bonkers.

AitchTwoOh · 15/08/2009 00:23

did you read ANYTHING www before coming on to tell us how wrong we are?

JustineMumsnet · 15/08/2009 00:24

The Sun has naked women on page 3

VVVQ the reason we haven't successfully managed to place even one column in a national newspaper is because we are utterly incapable of deciding which of our enormously talented pool of Mnet writers should get the job of penning it .

And with that, folks, I'm pulling the plug - or at least going to bed. Sleep well all.

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 00:24

WWW, I think most people are glad they are not mentioned - apart from the few who are angy that they were mentioned of course....

TBH, it is not so much the article, it is the idea that this is supposed to be a weekly column and they seem to plan on wholesale lifitng of whole or large parts of threads with no control given to MNHQ about what is used or how.

I am pretty sure that it didn't help that they got it so terribly wrong in terms of miss-quotes, crediting the wrong people with quotes and so on.

WideWebWitch · 15/08/2009 00:24

I would also like to say though

  • I HATE the Daily Mail, pile of shite
  • I don't blame anyone for writing for them, a commission's a commission
  • it's a PUBLIC forum, MILLIONS of people read if every day, strangers all of them
differentID · 15/08/2009 00:24

Good night Justine.

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 00:25

Night Justine

WWW, yes they have confirmed they did not know.

JustineMumsnet · 15/08/2009 00:26

Oh, one last thing for the latecomers (Waves at WWW - how are you?)

WE DIDN'T KNOW!!!!!

BitOfFun · 15/08/2009 00:26

Night all!

AitchTwoOh · 15/08/2009 00:27

night justine. give my love to mark stephens. he is strangely attractive as i recall, but i may have had my gina-goggles on.

Tortington · 15/08/2009 00:27

does www go " ha ha ha ...."?

WideWebWitch · 15/08/2009 00:27

Oh I see, so the objection is that said journo is going to regularly lift stuff from Mn? Snort, snort

Aitch, no, as I said, I have only skimmed, apologies, I haven't been here all day and night

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 00:27

You could all have a crack at it. Take turns. But attribute it to MP, and if the shit hits the fan one week.....

OR you could select one of the many talented writers/observers on MN. Who is the one that has been to lots of events and reported from them?

WideWebWitch · 15/08/2009 00:28

Oh, ok then Justine, right. we believe you.

( I am MARVELLOUS thanks! )

WideWebWitch · 15/08/2009 00:29

Mark Stephens is definitely a munter

BeccyCat · 15/08/2009 00:29

Catching up. So, no one at HQ knows the terms on which we post? And have had to go to the lovely Mark Darcy-ish bod? And people are much riled? I hate the DM but am strangely drawn to its website on a daily basis. Would hate my parents to read my posts over their breakfast though (I know, I have TOLD them not to buy it)

Boco · 15/08/2009 00:29

www it may be a public forum, but it feels different posting about something and getting advice if there's a possibility every week that it might be in the daily mail. Shirley.

AitchTwoOh · 15/08/2009 00:30

that'll be the wonk. i love the wonk.

there are lots of objections, www, it's perhaps more polite to read at least some of the thread before you crack out the snorts i think.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 00:30

Justine, get thee off to bed before you have one too many night caps

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 00:30

Just don't pick WWW, she doesn't even read MN threads

WWW, kind of, yes, more that they are going to lift a fair amount fairly often IYSWIM.

TBH,if I wanted to contribute to the DM I would be over there doing it, I don't so I am here contributing to parenting books and keeping late night internet trawlers happy!

Tortington · 15/08/2009 00:31

you dont copy the conversation and paste on msn anymore?

BeccyCat · 15/08/2009 00:31

Oh a munter. I thought he was fit. They'll have to hide the munter quote from him, else he wont represent them for free.

Platesmasher · 15/08/2009 00:32

Boco, WWW, VVVQV!
