expat "I'd be happier to stay at home and live off someone else's earnings and then go and tell others they're morally bankrupt."

I was kind of hoping that on MN, SAHM was a valid career choice. Hey ho.

Technically, I didn't say 'morally bankrupt', I invoked prostitution.
I mean, if you can write, why not write a novel? A biography? Write for a magazine? Hell, even go down the Liz what's her name route and write about your inadequate partner. Just don't make shit up about the most vulnerable members of society.

nannynick! Employment lawyers cost money...

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 14/08/2009 23:09

Nuts would be fine - at least we are all sure that no-one buying Nuts would actually read any of the text

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/08/2009 23:09

Yes, I saw mrsturnip, but I darent mention it

K999 · 14/08/2009 23:10

I am not sure what impact the DM article has had but I have had to have 3 threads deleted tonight.......and some of them were pretty

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:10

i mentioned it, veev. why the dameturnip?

first BIG scandal i remember was when, oh god, what was her name, taffy, twinny, something like that, got up the stick with a male mner's baby. a married male mner. O M G what a kerfuffle.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 14/08/2009 23:10

I have frequently googled stuff to do with disability and found myself quoting crap on here btw.

I have ended up reading my own rubbish more often than I have ended up on the DM.

MN is not exactly private. Even without appearing in newspapers.

K999 · 14/08/2009 23:11

and fwiw I have never had to ask to have a thread/post deleted ever........

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:11

moldies

moldies

moldies

what happens now? does the lapin appear dressed as the candyman?

(i bloody wish she would).

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 14/08/2009 23:12

Saintly, maybe not for you - but can you be sure of that for all the things that everyone posts on here?

Fyi re deletions, LH has asked us to delete any posts outing her - which could well be a bit of a futile exercise but the right not to be outed is one we try to uphold for all Mnetters so we're doing our best...

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:12

TAMBA! that was it. knew it was something to do with twins. and carlk. do a search on those names, newbs, that'll put hair on your chests.

wotzy · 14/08/2009 23:13

Yep custy is for it.

expatinscotland · 14/08/2009 23:13

Oh, that was Tamba, Aitch!

oopsagainandagain · 14/08/2009 23:13

yep, the Nuts guide to domestic voilence- lifted from the relationships/ lone parent section of MN.
Niiice work,

FFS i'm bored of saying this is a the thin end of the wedge... but it friggin' is.

It's not about journaism vs sceintists and sahm

It's very worrying that MN seem to have absolutely no idea whatsoeverr if they own our posts and can sell them on or not- and we are just sitting here going "ooh, get you SAHm, Journalist, lazy person, Dm blah blah blah"

IMHO

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:14

oh really? so she's been in touch? lol. she really should come on here imo. poor old nancy's been doing sterling work but it'd be interesting to hear it from the horse's mouth.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 14/08/2009 23:15

Well Kingcanute - people have responsibility for what they post surely.

Yes I was stung many years ago (not by a journo I had my very own friendly stalker). It's a PUBLIC site, there's no secret about that. If people post stuff that they don't want journos (or others) to use then they should email MNHQ and ask for a deletion (sorry Justine). Or better still not post in the first place.

JodieO · 14/08/2009 23:16

'Really? You would all be happy to write articles on how working mums and immigrants are destroying the country for union rates? Fair enough. Guess it's just me then. '

I'd be happier to stay at home and live off someone else's earnings and then go and tell others they're morally bankrupt.

And, yes, I find international pharmaceutical companies just as bad if not worse than anything the DM can turn out.

Quite upset at that expat, I'm a sahm to 3 but recently divorced and have no real choice.

expatinscotland · 14/08/2009 23:16

And Heathen, forgive me, but I can't for an instant assign any credibility to someone who worked in pharmaceuticals using the moral highground to dictate to others what they should or should not do for a living, be it whoring themselves out on the street for a fix or writing for the DM.

differentID · 14/08/2009 23:16

if you don't want members to be outed Justine, then why won't you condemn the dm and get the person to come on here to offer a full and frank apology?

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:17

very true about the google, dameturnip, mnhq is highly indexed. but i have sympathy with oops' point also.

expatinscotland · 14/08/2009 23:18

Don't see why, Jodie. DH is the chief earner in our home and I work part time.

And the SAHM/WOHM is not what that post was about.

It's about someone in a position of such priviledge playing the morality card about what others do for a living.

But you've spent a lot of time being upset about all this, Jodie. Perhaps it's time for a break.

BitOfFun · 14/08/2009 23:18

Would it be really crass of me to ask for the gossip on tamba then? I guess so...

AitchTwoOh · 14/08/2009 23:19

it was a mahoosive blow up, bof. huuuuuuuge. tears and everything. you always remember your first time (reading an MN scandal).

pointydog · 14/08/2009 23:19

blimey, what a pickle. So it's the journalist who has in fact had her privacy invaded.
