gosh
It seemed to have dropped off the radar on the news and in the papers, but the numbers are a bit scary - although still a small % of the population

oooh no I hope it is not the 38 year old woman who gave birth 3 months early.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 14/06/2009 21:44

none of the other articles have anything specific, just that the patient had under lying medical problems.

Oh that's sad, I was especially hoping it wasn't her

Poor family, God bless

TigersChick · 15/06/2009 09:33

Just heard this on the news.
So sad.

it must be hard to be in the media glare. I heard a radio interview today and they said that this death doesn't mean anything (they meant in terms of predicting the effect of a pandemic) - but it made me react that I bet it bl**dy does to the family involved !

Peachy · 15/06/2009 10:10

throck the report i saw said that whilst it was devastating for the family and motherless baby it didnt mean anything for the pop as a whole- wondering if people comlpained after report you heard?

Hulababy · 15/06/2009 15:49

Reports I have seen have all commented on how devasting it is for the family, but that in terms of the risk and worries for th population as a whole it is not something to worry unduly about.

They stated that there has veen about 150 deaths out of 30000 confirmed swine flu cases, so the percentage risk is very very low.

Those most at risk are those with underlying medical conditions. Sadly pregnancy also increases risk of complications.

even more tragedy to add to this story - just seen a ticker on the BBC website to say that her baby died this evening

Hulababy · 15/06/2009 20:23

Oh how sad

FAQinglovely · 15/06/2009 20:23

Our local news says she had a stroke on top of swine flu.

Terrible for the family.
