No there will be tourists, researches, people from national parks and wildlife etc. If I could dive I would have applied. It's a massive salary too. I wonder why its so much though. Much more then nurses, doctors, teachers etc earn and it's not like it's a dangerous job. Can you tell I am jealous?

it's a publicity stunt. How much would a worldwide TV 'Visit Queensland' campaign have cost? Millions.

They've got tens of millions of dollars of publicity for a few hundred thousand. The 'salary' is basically a competition prize by any other name - it's not intended as a real market rate at all.
