I am curious to know how the bugdet affects other MNetters so would be interested in your results from the bbc calculator:

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8008685.stm

Apparently we as a household will be £189.89 better off overall which surprised me.

apparently we will be about £440 better off!!!!

well, it would appear that we will be better off (by about £300/year), but I am a bit confused by that, as we are a higher earing household...

so, despite losing out on alcohol price, fuel price and NI, the Income tax gained over the next year means we are better off

I know the much-talked about rate doesn't kick in until next year anyway, but i am still lost in the calculations...

£625 better off apparently, I'll believe it when I see it! We don't drink (well, only very occassionally) or smoke and we drive one small car between us. We have a small household income as well. I work full-time and DH is a SAHD and works part-time so we'll be better off with tax credits according to the calculator.

Hmmm £400 or so better off which doesn't sound right to me.

twinsetandpearls · 27/04/2009 01:37

Have only put my details in and I will be £81 a year worse off. However when I add dp income in we end up £140 a year better off. This does not make sense so if I earned almost twice what I do now I would be better of but if I had an average income ( well abover average but a normal teachers wage) I would be worse off,

Am I doing it wrong as there is only space for one wage?
