www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1170191/London-suffering-shocking-rise-rare-Dickensian-diseases.htm l

and even state "The rise could be a result of parents refusing the MMR jab after now-debunked claims in 2001 that it might be linked to autism."

Hmm, yes, and what active part do the DM play in disseminating that debunked claim?

I PMSL at this yesterday because the way it was written implied that MMR refusal was causing the rise in all the diseases, including whooping cough.
These pesky MMR refusers, eh?

oh FFS!!

scarlet fever for one is not vaccinated against, so that is one strike against their theory.

whooping cough is not in the MMR, so another strike.

the cases of mumps..........has anyone looked into the ages of said people who are sufferng mumps?? the ones that I have heard of have been older people who would not have even been offered the MMR! (strike three).

oh, and my DD2 had the MMR, she then caught measles and was tested to see if the MMR had taken, and it hadn;t (in some people it doesn;t, they don;t know why, and they don;t who until the catch something either, which of cause then gets alerted to the CDC who then say the cases are on the rise.......!)

plus, it might well be connected to more people entering the country now, who won;t have had the MMR...........

stupid stupid report

My mother never had my sister and I jabbed as someone she knew who had twin girls had them jabbed and it "sent one funny" as my mother puts it.
I remember suffering through whooping cough, measles, mumps and thinking how I would never let any child I had go through it.

Both my boys have been given the MMR and are fine (DS1 has tourettes but I am not putting that down to the MMR) Someone I know gave her first child the MMR and he is fine 2nd child MMR is special needs she blamed the MMR jab and so 3rd child had single jabs and is also special needs, personally I think too much blame is put on the MMR jab for things.
I think it is irresponsible not to vaccinate a child at all.

Also I do wish people would not spit all over the place that is very unhygienic and help spread nasty things around.. but that is a whole other thread

We are not amused.

The DM should not be sold as a newspaper as that must contravene trading standards. It should be under comics/fiction.

pingviner · 16/04/2009 15:07

hmm, read this or Ben Goldacre
www.layscience.net/node/507

and dont get your science from the DM

Kevlarhead · 16/04/2009 22:39

"It should be under comics/fiction."

As a comics reader I find that deeply offensive.

The DM needs to be stocked alongside all the other toilet paper.
