"America's first dog" FFS.

Now they are doing a huge thing on the lunchtime news about it!

It's been all over the papers, for days, the whole thing is madness! It is not news!!!

Do a 2 minute one off in the "and finally" bit by all means but headline news?

FFS...

I suppose it's because in his speech after winning he said he was going to get them a dog??????????

I can't bring myself to watch television news anymore, because to my mind it's much the same as reading a tabloid newspaper.

psychomum5 · 15/04/2009 13:34

you will probably find that they have hidden something majorly bad going on in the government while they herald this 'news'...

KayHarker · 15/04/2009 13:41

it really is slow news time, isn't it? What with the incessant 'Look, a dog!' stuff and the 'Hey, government advisors can behave in really childish ways' shocker, I'm overcome with tedium.

No doubt someone worthy will come and tell me all the very important things which are happening right now (and yes, actually, I do read about World News), but gracious the headlines are so vacuous right now.

Shambolic · 15/04/2009 13:43

Like quietly reinstating policemen who had been suspended for alleged random acts of violence you mean psycho?

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 15/04/2009 13:47

exactly that shambolic!!

tis always the way...........the most benign news day hides the important stuff.

Shambolic · 15/04/2009 13:51

Is it me getting older, or like raspberry says, is everything now just really shit?

Spelling and punctuation mistakes all over "proper" papers, the BBC website is a shocker, and serious news channels running 15 mins of footage of dogs!

Has it got worse? Or am I turning into an old curmudgeon? Or both?

I blame age.

and hormones....

and hormones from the teens living in my house too........no idea who the teens belong to tho as I am not old enough to be mum to teens with hormone!!

BigBellasBeerBelly · 15/04/2009 15:36

Well speak for yourself psycho I am old and knackered

special2shoes · 15/04/2009 17:52

psychomum5 · 15/04/2009 18:23

well, I am certainly in the knackered area...........and feeling old, altho DH claims otherwise (he is just being nice I am sure)

BigBellasBeerBelly · 15/04/2009 20:28

arf have namechanged but yes tis me - shambolic!

2shoes it is nice but not all the news every news headline news special features experts looking at dog breeds blah blah

It's silly.

RaspberryBlower · 15/04/2009 20:50

I think it's been happening for a while and I don't think my feeling this is entirely down to being an old curmudgeon (what a fantastic word!).

It's about money and viewing figures and they know that Obama is sexy at the moment and therefore so is his dog, and so are the fleas on his dog.

Does anyone remember 'The Day Today' years ago? It took the piss out of the news and what it was becoming and it had Chris Morris and I think it was the first time we saw Alan Partridge. It seemed quite surreal at the time.

I watched it quite recently and it's so scarily close to what we're presented with now it could be put on in place of the News at Ten and nobody would notice.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 15/04/2009 20:57

The day today was tremendously wonderful and i have the DVD! Well reminded raspberry...

special2shoes · 15/04/2009 20:59
