at the great age of 112 years and 296 days! I , even though I worked for years with old people many of whom made it into their late 90's, find this a remarkable achievement.
story here. I'm a bit confused though as it says he is the oldest RN veteran, then further down says he is the last founder member of the RAF

The RAF wasn't founded until 1918 (the numbers just boggle you wrt his age..) and he was in the RN Air Service before that.

I just can't imaging what it must be like to live to be that old. My grandma is 91 and is (finally) recognisably in extreme old age, but he was serving in the Armed Forces before she was born!

Wow 112 !!!
I nurse the elderly.
I am amazed at how much longer people are living now compared with 25 yrs ago when I started nursing.

I was helping a lady get washed and dressed this morning who is 100 and she is still very sprightly.

My Gt Aunt is 100 this year and I think that's old, but Henry was born 12 years before that. Imagine living through all that he has seen.

Amazing people to talk to if they still have all their marbles.

Lady I was talking to this am said her brother died at age 6 of a broken arm

I would be so proud to have him as my Grandad and I know I will cry buckets when he does die. He seems such a lovely man.

I would love the opportunity to talk to him, not just about his experiences of WW1, but of life in general - he's seen 6 monarchs, lived through 2 world wars, man on the moon, space shuttles, the advent of the internet, television, mobiles phones, the changes in the military, the list is endless.
