Things like this scare me. I spend a lot of time walking with my 12 week son in the quiet leafy streets of Surry. I even walk in the woods on my own and reassure myself that things like this never happen.

I hate to live fearing the world around me but every time these random attacks occur I think it must be time to stop walking on my own.

Poor woman and poor family.

Horrific, I've just caught the news, my heart goes out to her and her family I hope they catch the individual involved soon. It just reminds us all to be as aware as possible at all times.........

I think we should all get those rape alarms and have a mobile with us at all times and avoid secluded paths unless absolutely necessary

So shocking. I also grew up not far from there and it really makes you think that it could happen to any one of us. What kind of sicko does this - never mind in front of a 20 month old baby.

Hope she fully recovers though it is looking unlikely at present

I often walk through parks and down lanes with my 14 wk old, it does sometimes cross my mind if I am safe. I carry a personal alarm which I got free from work and sometimes I carry a can of body spray up my sleeve!!But I never let this deter me from living my life. I do feel very for the little one and the family.
