I've just watched GMTV and they were explaining this in a bit more detail, its not "orgasmic' as such, just pleasurable.
The orgasmic title is from America, which says a lot
When I gave birth to my youngest, I was determined to do things my way, I had had an awful experience with my first. With my second, I had no pain relief or intervention at all. The midwife was brilliant and left me to my own devices for pretty much the whole time.
I enjoyed giving birth to my 2nd. It was pleasurable and I can honestly say it was brilliant. I have only fond memories of that day.
I don't know if it has any connection but, the relationship with my youngest son has always been brilliant. We are very close and still spend lots of time together ( off to see Metallica with him tonight!) He is nearly 17 btw. As a baby, he was very laid back and easy to be around. He has always been an easy-going kind of person.
Not orgasmic birth, but definately an experience I would of loved to repeat.

Don't know which i'm more jealous of, your birth experience or the Metallica tickets. Have fun later.

I remember reading a thread on MN ages ago about this. here. It (the thread, not labour!) provided me with much entertainment when my dd was small.

I'll take the orgasm but not the childbirth, please!

This is not a new idea: Virginia Ironside was gently poking fun at the expectations it raised in new mothers in the 80s.

Personally, I never missed my lack of orgasmic childbearing experience. It's not as if it was going to be my only chance
