It is newsworthy that Sarah Palin's teenage daughter has split from her boyfriend, with whom she recently had a baby out of wedlock.

Because Sarah Palin was running for Vice Presidency on a conservative platform. Her daughter was pregnant and the engagement was hastily announced.

If she had been elected, these two youngsters would be married by now.

What a shame...having to do all your growing up in the spotlight. Not sure that I could work in the public eye and put my family open to that level of scrutiny - I often think that we underestimate the sacrifices/difficult situations that our politicians allow their families to be opened up to abd that we should be more grateful.

I guess the humour resides in knowing who this Michael Palin person is.
