That's good, I'm glad she did that.

Ummm, I'm not so convinced it is a great article, it just seems to be yet another example of the "pregnancy/birth completely screws your body up" cliches. I've had three natural births and breast fed and have come through it without LAI/stretch marks/haemmoroids/hair loss/permanent weight gain/flattened breasts etc etc. Yes, some women will get some of these conditions but it's the expectation that it's inevitable that irritates me. I get tired of being told that pregnancy is bad for you and you will never/struggle to recover from the experience

I've read it differently lalalonglegs. I find it positive - she had a problem, and she's dealt with it.

I think it's positive - it's not a topic that's openly discussed, so it's good for it to be out in the open.

PuppyMonkey · 08/03/2009 09:37

lala. Don't think she's saying all women will inevitably get that condition. Just that you should be aware of it. No harm in that.

Pregnancy DOES screw up you body anyway.

Callisto · 08/03/2009 10:10

Is this not why we were all told to do the dreaded pelvic floor exercises? I was told by almost every medical person and HV I saw during and post pregnancy that if I didn't do them I'd end up wetting myself if the wind so much as changed. Hardly a secret.

lalalonglegs · 08/03/2009 10:13

Oh well, maybe it's me just being a curmudgeon. Off to admire my remarkably unscathed body in the mirror for a while .

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 09/03/2009 21:39

She was on Woman's Hour this morning saying that actually it's a good news story - that you don't have to put up with incontinence and that there is treatment out there.

Starbear · 10/03/2009 08:05

Not really news though is it.
