I heard when the announced the honours list - so glad - especially after watching his Alzheimer's programmes on BBC2
He waved at me once in a bookshop - lovely man

onagar · 18/02/2009 13:42

Good for him! His books have certainly given me a lot of pleasure.

OrmIrian · 18/02/2009 13:43

Hurray! Love his books. He used to work with my Dad.

Idrankthechristmasspirits · 18/02/2009 13:44

Fab news. I have loved his books for years and now my dd is starting to read them as well.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/02/2009 13:45

Marvellous news! He is such an inventive author.

funtimewincies · 18/02/2009 19:48

I love it that he's got so much Discworld tat paraphenalia is his office .

Can't see Rowling surrounded by Potter stuff, too much of a serious author now y'know!

gigglewitch · 18/02/2009 19:49

and not a moment too soon
we love Discworld

LucyEllensmummy · 18/02/2009 20:39

Oh, i am so pleased - i have only read one of his childrens books and i loved it - talking cats and rats - brilliant. I keep meaning to read the discworld stuff - does anyone know the first book?

I watched his first alzheimers program, it broke my heart to watch - my dad had alzheimers and all i can say is thank god he never knew. To see Sir Terry stumbling over reading his own book just tore me up.

LucyEllensmummy · 18/02/2009 20:40

i couldnt get over the amount of computor screens, that is multi tasking at its finest

bruxeur · 18/02/2009 20:42

Colour of Magic and then The Light Fantastic. They're very different in tone and style to the later ones, do start with them though - they get much better and funnier but if you read them in written order the development of the characters evolves wonderfully.

OrmIrian · 19/02/2009 11:50

I've read odds and sods of his discworld stuff over the years but have started collecting them all now. Finally persuaded DH to try them and he has got the whole lot to work his way through! Well up to Interesting Times anyway

HollyGoHeavily · 19/02/2009 11:54

Excellent - about time!

AnnVan · 19/02/2009 12:40

I've read all the discworld books. Am quite of those who haven't as you get the pleasure of reading them for the first time.
