...and loads of you are mentioned in it!

At least they quoted you all correctly this time, but I agree it's weird isn't it!

whoever wrote that article is amongst us. That Xenia quote so just so quintessentially Xenia. It's somebody who knows you all.

oooooh shudder!

Well as long as they keep quoting me, that's fine!

Heated · 14/02/2009 13:55

Probably the wittiest article cut & paste in the Times.

Xenia is fab

Heated · 14/02/2009 13:58

gosh, have they quoted you wotulookinat?

quick, someone nab wotulookinatasquotedintheTimes before she does!

ssd · 14/02/2009 14:05

xenia always posts things like that, she never lets you down

wotulookinat · 14/02/2009 14:08

I'm not THAT vain, Heated!

wotulookinatasquotedinTheTimes · 14/02/2009 14:10

Actually, sod it, maybe I am!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 14/02/2009 14:17

My God, "journalists" are fecking lazy these days.

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 14/02/2009 14:22

flipping heck, they could at least have picked the best of AIBU!!

And put at least a few words in to explain what their point is.

Is it that MN is being unreasonable by having AIBU and the (sorry but mostly pointless) stuff that's on it?

Is it supposed to be funny?

Is it an advert?

And the million dollar question - did someone get paid for c&p writing it?

wotulookinatasquotedinTheTimes · 14/02/2009 14:23

I suspect it's there to show how bored and boring we all are.

sagacious · 14/02/2009 14:25

Its staggering theres not even an explanation I wonder what article was pulled seconds before it going to print to justify it?

[I've been quoted in the Guardian..ner ner ner ner ner and properly by a real journalist..innit]

lowrib · 14/02/2009 14:32

What copyright issue? I would be surprised if the powers that be at MNET aren't behind the article, as it's great publicity for their book, and good on them.

lowrib · 14/02/2009 14:36

Oops!I meant i wouldn't be surprised!

cheshirekitty · 14/02/2009 14:51

Hey, I am famous, miaow.

JustineMumsnet · 23/02/2009 16:03

Hello - just got back from hols but to answer questions... I didn't write this or choose the threads but did suggest the idea to the Times as a way of plugging the Toddlers book, which they did in the paper - though not online I think...

So no breach of copyright, hopefully some book sales and lots of famous for a minute Mumsnetters

Wizzska · 23/02/2009 17:32

Perhaps the journo is one of us mnetters and was on MN instead of writing her article - hence quick cut and paste job. Justine, you may have suggested it, but it didn't do us justice. Lazy journalism I call it.

I lurk too much, must post more, then I will be famous too. Are you ladies going to call Max Clifford?

Longtalljosie · 23/02/2009 19:13

Oh for heavens sake. It will have been done with Mumsnet's permission, in fact with the book out, was probably their idea. They may even have pointed the journalist to the quotes. Yes, it's PR journalism, but it's a fun article, and for someone not usually on here, would make an entertaining read. And wotulookinat etc get to be famous. Everyone's a winner. ROFL at the "oh my god are there journalists on here?". You know we reproduce as well, right?

oh damn, was convinced I'd read the whole thread (iPhone strikes again)

The trite point is interesting... I didn't take it that way but take your point, although it would take a hell of an article to capture the range of life on MN.

Newspapers aren't my bag, professionally speaking, but would you really only want news, not features? I love good feature writing ( although I accept this article is not original). And I have to say, when I was a radio newsreader people would universally say "I heard you on the radio the other day, I loved the story about the hamster". Nowadays I don't do "funny" stories. But I still think there's room in the world for them. Particularly at the moment, when there's so much doom and gloom about.

LOL @ article.

They haven't even written a preamble properly or any conclusion to sum it all up I reckon i could be a journalist at this rate. I am pretty nifty with the old CTRL C/CTRL V combo!

Longtalljosie · 23/02/2009 20:08

No - MN definitely isn't trite. Scary occasionally, but not trite
