OMG have you seen this? People taking risks at level crossings, not for the faint-hearted

here

I am so shocked (and naive) - I had heard that some people try to get round the barriers or ignore the signals but I had assumed they would check a train wasn't coming! I had no idea people could be so stupid.

(NB no one gets hurt in the clips, it's a BBC news thing not a horror link but still gave me the heebie-jeebies)

I saw these on the news earlier and was incredibly shocked that people can be so stupid.

Gorionine · 09/02/2009 10:26

alphabetsoup · 09/02/2009 10:30

utter morons

itwasntme · 09/02/2009 10:35

Fucking idiots... do they not realise that it is not just their OWN lives they are risking?

SpookyMadMummy · 09/02/2009 11:42

An old schoolfriend of mine was killed at a level crossing in Australia last year. The crossing had no boom gates. I can't believe that people would take risks like this.

Yurtgirl · 09/02/2009 13:26

Some people are stupid arent they

whitenoise · 09/02/2009 13:29

not yet watched the clip as DS2 hovering.

we used to have train drivers come into our primary school to talk to us about messing about on train tracks. We used to get given a booklet that was written in a funny way but with a serious message and was illustrated by quentin blake. Had things like - if you stick your head out pf the train it will get chopped off but the basic safety was there as well.

why do they not do that anymore?

stoppinattwo · 10/02/2009 20:59

i have done some work by railway lines and the rail track bod said that the problem is if you are on the lines or infront of the train like those last two in the last clip you dont hear the train till it is right nearby.....for some reason the sound doesnt travel forward...I couldnt believe how close they were!!
