I'm worried because we know people who live just to the East of Melbourne, in the middle of the worst of it...

I'm in Adelaide so not where the fires are, THANK GOD. But have been watching it on the news it is shocking and terrible, over 40 people are confirmed dead in Victoria and 100s of houses and businesses have been destroyed. Whole villages have been totally burnt out. It is really dreadful. Those MNers in Victoria and NSW I hope you are safe.

The weather conditions are so frightening, 40 + degrees and boiling hot winds fanning the flames. Everything is tinder dry so would go up in a flash if anything starts. Horrible.

Have just been reading this on the news. Had hoped some of our Austalian mners would have signed in to let us know they are ok. I too hope you are all safe.

OMG I have just seen the news, how utterly dreadful. I hope our MN'ers and their families in NSW and Victoria are ok. You are in my thoughts.

I just looked at the interactive map on SMH, and it is just horrific.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those effected, and praise to the emergency services....

Thus far, the NSW fires are not threatening property or lives (except those of the brave fire fighters and volunteers), so we are ok here. Its Victoria that really needs prayers - 173 confirmed dead now. Its just shocking.

I am in Adelaide too. Claudia, they are supposed be putting us on alter this weekend so I was told.

I'm in Adelaide too. The fires in Vic are just so dreadful, I can hardly bear to watch the news as it's so upsetting.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, it is just completely devastating, terrifying, horrific - words just cannot describe it.

We have family in Adelaide, I think they're quite central though.

I just hope they don't spread too much more and can get controlled before any more loss of life....
