Red interview with Keira Knightley - WTF?

So reading the interview, tum te tum , quite like Keira, seems to be a level headed girl, then...

"in an attempt to discourage her from becoming an actress, her parents sent her to the local comprehensive."

WTF??? I know this isn't anything to do with Keira or her parents, it's the journalist's spin on it but ...

(Must do some work and stop reading magazine/mumsnetting)

perhaps they meant as opposed to her wish to go to a stage school or drama school?

smallorange · 05/02/2009 15:05

Yes maybe you're right - but why would it discourage her?

well it would be less encouraging than drama school. I am sure they only meant in comparison to drama school rather than attempting to portray comprehensives as being somehow eanti-drama queen.

I'll have to read the article but I think you are looking for an insult that is not there...

agree with pagwatch - are you trying to be offended by possible comprehensive school jibe ?

smallorange · 05/02/2009 15:13

I think you're right. It's the chip on my shoulder and a double espresso - bad combination!

Is she still 23? She seems to be another one of those whose age never increases. There are some of them who are now younger than I am, but they were adults when I was still in junior high.

I've just read the interview - in between lots of important work, of course - and she doesn't come across badly at all IMO. And I'm not really a fan.

Yes she seems very self-possessed and level headed which can't be easy when you have had such success, so young.
