Mumsnet in the news

Thought we'd point out the feature in Today's (Saturday) Times Magazine with a lovely pic of those who attended the pre-Christmas dinner in London. The motherhood survey is scheduled to be featured in tomorrow's Observer (news section) and space permitting we should also be in the Sunday Times (news review) with a light-hearted quiz to test how good a mother you are.
ps to all those who attended the first Vinopolis lunch forgive me for hamming it up a bit - artistic licence and all that. You'll have to buy the Times now to see what I'm talking about...

thinking about this more, i'll be pretty hacked off if anyone here gives enough information to link "bossykate" to the photo. all i need is for my work colleagues to come on this site and start looking me up.

tigermoth · 29/03/2003 17:11

oh goodness, I'll have to go to the newsagent. I really want to read this. As for the photo, I hope and pray I am not too recogniseable.

Bossykate, IKWYM!

CAM · 29/03/2003 17:48

Well I look like I'm already drunk but not as drunk as I was much later! Enjoyed the article Justine, but yes to the artistic licence: from my point of view at Vinopolis you were more like the young attractive neice than the aunt!!

bayleaf · 29/03/2003 17:49

OH no - all my fault - sorry sorry sorry - how utterly stupid and thoughtless of me - quick someone TECH - can you delete my entry???? I'll e mail and try and get it deleted. I really just didn't think. SORRY.
Yours very repentently
Bayleaf

SoupDragon · 29/03/2003 18:14

Should probaby delete my message too then

Oops!

Clarinet60 · 29/03/2003 18:33

Drat! I don't think I'll get to it in time to have a good look at you all before the deletions. Of course, I could always save ............

tigermoth · 29/03/2003 18:38

it's OK, bayleaf, soupdragon, I'm sure it was said in the excitement of the moment...but IMO a deletion would be a good thing, if you don't
mind.

bayleaf · 29/03/2003 18:58

I emailed tech and mumsnet straight after my last post - put lots of pleading in and a high priority email - can only hope now....
am feeling awful - was such a S T U P I D thing to do.

SoupDragon · 29/03/2003 21:28

Hurrah! No one will ever know who you are now... Although I'm still curious

prufrock · 29/03/2003 22:05

Please get rid of mine too - sorry guys, got caught up in the euphoria of escaping myself

bossykate · 30/03/2003 07:39

thanks very much to those who asked for their messages to be deleted. i will be staying well out of camera range in future!

tigermoth · 30/03/2003 09:19

and thanks from me too!

SoupDragon · 30/03/2003 10:52

For some reason in my depleted brain, I thought, they're in a national paper, of course people will recognise them - what's the problem?? It never occurred to me that you couldn't link the person in the photo to a nickname! Duh!!

bayleaf · 30/03/2003 11:33

PHEW!
Wil try and engage brain next time.

bayleaf · 30/03/2003 13:19

Justine - have just read the quiz in today's Sunday Times - had to laugh, very ''Mumsnet''!

Marina · 30/03/2003 19:40

Poo, missed all three papers (and the revelatory posts). Especially keen to find out exactly what Justine means about the Vinopolis lunch as I organised that one...glad the books are getting loads of coverage and off to trawl a few newspaper websites in hope of some e-cuttings!

Well, I had to laugh at the Observer article - ' a representative sample of 1053 mothers were surveyed'.....if you're going to do quick and dirty surveys, at least be honest about them!!
No plug for the book either which was a shame.
Gutted to miss the pic but murdoch papers are not my usual purchase!!

bossykate · 31/03/2003 10:31

elliott, i agree, never could the words "survey, schmurvey" be better applied. watch out for the earnest articles... "Is Nigella really the best role model for mothers today?" etc etc
