that was in all the papers yesterday about him fluffing his lines......I didn;t imagine tho that he would have to retake the oath.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 22/01/2009 09:30

The constitution states that change of power takes place at noon.

Can't imagine that fluffing his lines would make much of a difference....

millenniumfalcon · 22/01/2009 09:31

yeah when they say it went unnoticed that's not true at all - i thought it might have been the prompter who got it wrong, hence obama's pause.

lol @ not married, think of everything you can get away with now ;)

are we sure that everything he did yesterday still counts?

Fable · 22/01/2009 09:34

He didnt fluff. The oprompter fluffed. Obama paused to allow the prompter to correct himslef

georgimama · 22/01/2009 09:39

I predicted this would happen. I think they have redone the oath incase some Neo Nazi nutter tries to launch legal action to say he is not really the president.

Hoover got his oath wrong as well apparently.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 22/01/2009 09:41

What Fable said. He didn't fluff his lines.

He paused, but he got them right (the prompter said faithfully in the wrong place when he prompted, but Obama got it the right way round.)

millenniumfalcon · 22/01/2009 09:42

no he repeated what the prompter said, wrong way round, hence rerun

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 22/01/2009 09:47

Ah - so it should have been I will faithfully.

Not I will faithfully _

?

Can't remember now, which way round should it have been?

Fable · 22/01/2009 11:18

He didnt repeat the prompter. He paused and let the prompter say it again.

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2009 11:21

***

But it still isn't correct cos they couldn't find a bible for him to swear his oath holding or with his hand on

So he may have to do it again

3rd time lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

georgimama · 22/01/2009 11:31

they don't have to swear on a Bible (although America would probably go mental if they didn't so they all do), they can swear or affirm.

The first one was fine, the second one is double fine.

Fable · 22/01/2009 11:32

I thought his wife had a bible in her hand and he had his hand on it

MmeLindt · 22/01/2009 11:34

They said on the news that it was just a precaution in case someone decided to challenge his presidency.

lol at the marriage not being legal. Psycho, tell your DH you want to do it all again. Fancy a new dress?

RTKangaMummy · 22/01/2009 11:45

No I meant that when he did the 2nd time

they couldn't find a bible

He had Lincolns bible the 1st time and yes she was holding with his hand on top of it

Fable · 22/01/2009 16:21

My mistake Kanga
