really glad to have found this thread....as i just feel that he deserves to 'be human and die peacfully'..... i know he's important to catholic religion....my son asked me who the pope was- i said the next best thing to god in catholic religion....and i've been feeling guilty thinking he should be allowed to rest and be left alone.

i have no religious beliefs....but desparately pray to whoever that noone should have to undergo such a public end to their life.

hope i don't offend here- but feels like a modern day crucifixion.....just let him be.XXX

morningpaper better a catholic relief agency than no agency at all. There are other relief agencies for those who don't wish to give to a Catholic one.

Whether people have criticised the pope in the past or not to do so when the man is dying is offensive.

He is still around and no further medical intervention has been provided. He is breathing raspily, and they are doing what they can to make him comfortable w/o prolonging his life, in line w/his wishes. His organs are failing. I worked in a hospice for a while. S/times this can take a couple of days. But it should be today. Hopefully. It's terrible to watch a person hang on like that when there's n/thing you can do. Death is s/times a blessing.

I don't think it is sad everyone dies and he has had a good life There was a little boy on the news yesterday he was 2 I think and needed a new liver to live that was sad he hadn't even had a life yet.Can you tell being brought up in ireland with religion forced on me has made me bitter?

You forgot twisted

FWIW

I survived Holy Catholic Ireland, but my parents were a bit a lá carte. My Mother went to confession in 1969!!!!!!! and told the Priest she had 3 kids under the age of 5 and that her sex life and contraception were none of the church's business

The Priests reply..........................

Good on you

I walked away from my religion, for years.

Have gone back, to a wonderful parish and I am really enjoying it.

I live a definite spiritual life but it bears little resemblence to the miserable childhood I spent at sunday school and church

LGJ · 02/04/2005 14:37

All the time I was away from the church, my code for life was first do no wrong and do unto others as you would have done unto you.

If I had never set foot in another church it is not a bad mantra.

I am pleased that you have found something that works for you, I have so many friends that have nothing at all.

I live pretty much by those principles too Gets easier but am still practicing IYSWIM!
