I think you're right there thumbwitch, the older male partners could be very old-fashioned. I think what annoyed me most was that our HR department was almost all female and not that old - and presumably they had booked her.

I know this is bit old now, but what an incredibly odd picture of Gwyneth Paltrow. Forget the high heels, she appears to be wearing a neglige! If that's what it takes to be "empowered" count me out.

I have two pairs of shoes will heels, both boots, but that is only because I couldn't find any other style that actually got on my feet (I have very high arches). They have two inch heels, and although I am aware they make me walk differently, which is interesting, they also make me walk half as fast and worry about falling over. I feel much more empowered in shoes that I can stride in.

However I am 5'10", so generally feel fairly physically empowered to be honest, and in the right clothes can make a statement, no problem. I slightly wonder whether high heels are only considered feminine because no man would be stupid enough to wear them.
