Ten million people watch scd. Why is it not news?

because it's a REALITY TV PROGRAMME

Spaceman · 19/11/2008 17:48

I agree that the world of TV should not enter into the headlines especially as the number one story. But then I also think they shouldn't report sport on the main news either as as there are so many other channels dedicated to it.

2shoes · 19/11/2008 17:49

sport should be banned and never mentioned

Oh yes I so agree.

The combination of human misery and sleb twaddle on the news these days makes me despair.

One is ghastly and the other trivialises it by even being in the same bulletin.

cissycharlton · 19/11/2008 18:17

I'm not really interested in celebrity culture but scd is loved by many, many people.

I agree it shouldn't be the main news item but why should news be dominated by death, financial issue etc.

News that deemed worthy is largely speaking only ever bad news. Why shouldn't this (which lots of people are interested in)be reported?

Any btw, I listen to the Today programme, watch Newsnight and read a broadsheet everyday.

Lucifera · 20/11/2008 13:31

Not news. TsarChasm, my feelings exactly.

EffiePerine · 20/11/2008 13:35

am a little at the BBC coverage, which I suspect is due in part to cross-selling

southeastastra · 20/11/2008 13:51

the radio (bbc stations) are just full of it.

i couldn't care less. and we pay for this??

artichokes · 20/11/2008 13:55

The media's obsession with itself is shocking at the moment.

Two weeks ago the Johnathan Ross affair dominated very news programme and newspaper for many days running. We got a short break from hearing journalists talk about journalists and now here we go again. Its navel gazing at its worse.

UnquietDad · 20/11/2008 14:41

Eastenders is (inexplicably) "loved by many many people" and you don't get it being third item on the news when someone leaves!

2shoes · 20/11/2008 17:20

at least it is something to smile at

artichokes · 20/11/2008 17:25

Is the point of the news to make us smile?

Most of the media is there to make us smile and keep us entertained. The news should be there to inform and educate and make sure we can all make informed decisions when we vote (in general elections, not reality TV shows!).

southeastastra · 20/11/2008 17:38

doesn't make me smile, makes me angry if i'm honest.

it's media saturation.
