"Far from being a harmless fantasy world, it is a cyber-society where conventional morality has been set aside in favour of a far darker and more worrying pattern of behaviour.

Obsessed with sex and awash with pornography, it is a 'place' where the behaviour of some of its 'residents' is so deeply unedifying it beggars belief that it could ever have been hailed as a lighthearted retreat from the real world."

Sounds good, where do I sign up...?

Was it my imagination or did the woman in that pic have three breasts?
Cool!

solidgoldbrass · 19/11/2008 09:35

Excellent comments, though.

She must be the famous Triple-Breasted Whore of Eroticon VI, made famous by Douglas Adams.

UQD - why are you reading the Mail?

onager · 19/11/2008 09:52

I wonder if second life paid them to print that
I'd sign up now, but this bit "Obsessed with sex and awash with pornography.. ..the behaviour of some of its 'residents' is so deeply unedifying it beggars belief" probably means everyone else is a teenage boy.

the comments on the daily mail website is what makes it a source of guilty amusement/horror for me...

SheikYerbouti · 19/11/2008 17:49

I bet your average Mail reader is on there every spare moment they get.

southeatsastras · 19/11/2008 17:50

i got propositioned as soon as i went on second life though. i reckon it's full of sex mad balding lunatics

SheikYerbouti · 19/11/2008 17:51

Yes, who all read the Daily Mail.

My nephew is a Second Life devotee, and has been for a few years now. He is sixteen, and spends his time there creating things (he is now quite a techie whizz). My sister is fine with this, and she has monitored all his TV etc for years (she has an anti-violence thing, and probably as she is an ex-vicar isn't too keen on the sex either. So I suspect that the majority of the world has little to do with sex. I know that a lot of people in the creative and techie industries hang out there (it's good for environment manipulating if you have the skills).

southeatsastras · 19/11/2008 17:59

some people have made lots of money on there haven't they?

roseability · 19/11/2008 22:42

This sounds great fun!
