Here

Give generously

How's about you donate your £70 (minimum) per ticket price for live concerts to this cause instead, Madge?

Or, better still, why don't you pay for the school outright yourself?

Not to take away from the cause itself, but during this current climate, and given that she could easily pay for a school (not to say 100 schools) herself, why ask for money from people who probably can't afford it? Or am i being snotty?

Totally agree with you

compo · 16/11/2008 20:04

I see your point but celebs usually lend their faces to good causes to get people to donate

cornsilk · 16/11/2008 20:05

Well maybe she is donating already.

DoubleBluff · 16/11/2008 20:05

Absolutely.
Who does she think she is?
Feck off and live on your royalties you scraggy old bat.

BetteNoire · 16/11/2008 20:05

Maybe she's using her celebrity to draw in donations for the building of the school, and then she'll pay for the actual upkeep.

I expect she's got a charitable trust - lots of slebs do.

Moomin · 16/11/2008 20:06

But it's not like it's a famine or something- it's a school that she could quite easily afford to build herself. By doing that she'd also raise awareness of the cause at the same time, surely?...

maybe she already paid to build another school?

compo · 16/11/2008 20:08

it's like on Children In need Friday night. It was great when Take That donated 250,000 from their M&S campaign . I guess some people might have thought 'oh Girls Aloud haven't donated anything' but for all we know they could have donated loads to any number of charities
we just don't know

Moomin · 16/11/2008 20:12

spose. I'm usually quite reasonable about slebs really and try to give them the benefit of the doubt about stuff reported in the press so don't know why this got my goat but it did.

moomin, agree with you, i feel the same way about saint bloody bono - wants to end world poverty - how about stop flying your stupid hat first class around the world and put your hand in your own pocket to help people. he could probably wipe out the debt of a small country on his own.

TheCrackFox · 16/11/2008 21:14

I agree. Bono also used to pay tax in Ireland but moved his tax liabilities to Holland so he could pay less.
