Not quite the same as little baby P. Two little boys aged three and three months have been found in a house in Manchester, been killed by their mum. Theyd been stabbed . Mothers been arrested on susp of murder.

Very different from Baby P case - mother has been sectioned under Mental Health Act, so it won't be murder.

Probably something like puerperal psychosis, I guess; absolutely awful and tragic for all concerned.

Gorgeous little boys as well .

yes they were beautiful.

Feel desperately sorry for the two little ones and the mum, as feel certain that yes it would have been puerperal psychosis that caused this tragedy.

Have worked with people (a few women) who commited infanticide whilst seriously mentally ill, both were suffering from delusions that led them to believe there children had to go to heaven to be saved from a terrible fate. Both women spent many years (decades) in secure mental hospitals and suffered terrible terrible grief and guilt over what they had done. You always think 'It wouldn't happen again' but then it does

So awful, just seen the picture of them, what beautiful children. The fact that the mother had visited the GP who had then subsequently called the police because of concerns does rather make it sound like somethng such as puerperal psychosis.

Terribly sad

Terribly sad yes, but take the gloves off the police. If they didn't have to deal with BRUTE POLICING or even racism cries the individual PC or PS (and let's face it, in reality the BIG decisions are made by individuals not groups) would have put the children somewhere safe for the night. BRITAIN has gone poliitically correct mad and consequences ARE and will be death for some people, children. Sometimes the Police won't even go - short staffed, answer phones on Child protection lines. If the Government wants to put some public funding somewhere put it into the local police forces and local authorities not just London, but suburbs and just outside london counties - child protection services. For many authorities - the problem is money, and that's why they have to recruit SWs from all around the world (good people - but willing to work for 1/3 or british born SW).

who's has attacked the police???

elephantwellyphant · 14/11/2008 15:09

Gosh, I didn't know about puerperal psychosis so have just googled it. What a terrifyingly devastating condition.
