Saw this on the news last night.

It was like watching a religious rugby scrum.

That was absolutely disgraceful! Hope they are all thoroughly ashamed of themselves, as they should be.

They hit each other with candles. Have not read a funnier line in years...

And I thought Father Ted was far fetched. Just proves religion is no guarantee of good behaviour.

As a Christian, I thought it rather sad. However, I've never seen my non Church going (and normally very peace loving) dh so impressed at a church service. Just got to persuade my local vicar and friends to launch into fisticuffs in church and I might get dh to go along!

Seriously though, monks are human, and religion aint about saints. It's about ordinary people trying to make sense of their lives, and to work out some of the big questions in life. The fact that the place was full of armed police suggests that there were some tensions brewing before hand . . . .
