I don't think that has passed many people by - but what is to be debated here? It is a natural disaster and utterly awful.

FlameNPumpkins · 31/10/2008 09:05

Can you just c&p the articles?

Yes, we get it, you have no interest in ross/brand, but I know half of us can't be arsed to open links.

Callisto · 31/10/2008 09:06

So you can be bothered to post that you can't be bothered to click on a link?

FlameNPumpkins · 31/10/2008 09:06

yup

LilRedWGoreandguts · 31/10/2008 09:09

Callisto - not sure why the stress here, but am guessing that you are peeved at the coverage of BBC Radio atm.

I do think that you are a little out of order presuming that people don't care about other, far more important, stuff though.

ledodgy · 31/10/2008 09:09

I'm finding your thread title quite patronising Callisto.

Upwind · 31/10/2008 09:10

Unbelievable that you would stoop to using this tragedy to have a go at MNers posting on another thread.

ledodgy · 31/10/2008 09:13

There was nothing to stop you posting about each of these things during the week instead of posting them all in one morning to have a go at the rest of us!

Callisto · 31/10/2008 09:13

Jeez Upwind, you've really got the wrong end of the stick.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/10/2008 09:14

I agree that far too much news coverage has been given to JR and thingy but I still think its a debate worth having because its one about some of the fundamental core values of our society and what we as a society find acceptable.

LilRedWGoreandguts · 31/10/2008 09:14

I've just seen all of the other threads you have started Callisto (I tend to avoid the In The News section, because of these arguments generally) and really think that you need to turn your computer off today and take a break.

Please do not presume that people on here do not give a toss about others because they are interested in the Woss story. Personally, I'm sick to the back teeth of the coverage but would never use such awful tragedies for my own ends, just to get at people.

piss off with your holier than thou attitude

yarooo · 31/10/2008 09:17

smuggest, snidiest thread title i've read in a long time

travellingwilbury · 31/10/2008 09:19

I actually was the only person that agreed with you on the other thread . Because I am fed up with hearing about Brand and Ross all the time but now I also think you are just being patronising .

Discuss it if you want to discuss it don't just post a link .

BloodyStranglingwithBling · 31/10/2008 09:19

My word. You're unpleasant on this.

Note to self, from now on, preface all posts on random food or other items with "obviously this is not as important as all the other things going on in the world where people are dying".

Upwind · 31/10/2008 09:20

Callisto, how exactly have I the wrong end of the stick? You are using a dreadful situation, a tragedy on a massive scale where tens of thousands of lives have been lost, to have a go at people whose discussions you look down on. That is low.

expatinscotland · 31/10/2008 09:21

yes, it's passed me by.

my damn gas bill hit the target, however: my doormat.

lljkk · 31/10/2008 09:23

The media always jumps on bandwagons and ends up covering one story to excess, to an unhealthy exclusion of others.

Does anyone know what's going on in Iraq? I've barely heard anything for weeks, we are still at war, right?? The credit crunch/domestic financial crisis had blown almost everything else off the news agenda (until Radio 2 plonkers came to dominate).

I listen to a lot of the World Service on DAB radio, they have the most rounded news coverage going.

lljkk · 31/10/2008 09:24

There's something terrible happening in the Congo, too, famine? Really scarey.
Wasn't there a big earthquake yesterday, too?

unknownrebelbang · 31/10/2008 17:10

I CBA'd generally to click on links (although I did on this one, just for you) and yes it had passed me by, but then I've been at work all week and it's half-term, so watching/reading the news (even if it hadn't been full of JR/RB) hasn't been my main pre-ccupation this week.
