is it just me who finds this a bit depressing? I know that the incident raises questions (not least about editorial control) but it seems to have ended in some daily mail type witch hunt. I find this depressing as it seems to indicate an era of bbc broadcasting wall to wall dickens re runs, antiques roadshow and strictly come dancing..

Also couldn't agree more with posts on other threads re news time this has taken up - wtf was fact we've moved away from fiscal rules set up in 1997 doing on as THIRD news item after this shite yesterday.

I don't think they were 'scapegoated' (not a real word). I think they were at best immature, at worst boorish, rude and disrespectful, and just allowed themselves to get carried away. What made it worse was that it was broadcast. But it was unpleasant stuff to put on anyone's answering machine, even if it had remained private.

The radio is wittering on about 'edgy comedy'. Well bad manners, rudeness etc isn't funny, no matter who does it.

Has the editor who let this thing go thru' to air gone too, I wonder?

Hmm, well as JR was the one who initially started this then the fact that he hasn't fallen on his sword shows just what type of guy he is. Brand and Douglas have at least done something honorable, but he just gets a small holiday. I suspect that with the millions he's already earned this will be no hardship.

Well, from the news reports, he was offended, elderly or not. So they stuffed up. Badly. And 18000 complaints is no small number.

Such as? Mock the week is genuinely very funny. That is an example of quality comedy.

To be honest I have not listened in full to the messages so really wouldn't want to comment on the 'subtlies' of the humour therein! lol
