Have we not had a discussion about this? I'm surprised.

Seedy, sordid, unfunny little men pad obscene amounts of money to be obscene.

What's your view?

OP posts:

The Daily Mail are priceless. They cause a big outcry, then print saucy pics of her, and I might add a pic of her slitting somebody's throat etc... then make out they are on a moral crusade!

I personally have no beef with the girl or the way she is dressed. In fact I think she looks alright.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:26

What is pathetic, is to suggest that she should accept what has happened and hush up because she dresses a certain way. That she has no right to rebuttle because of how she dresses and the career she has chosen.

In any case - if it's not pertinent - why mention it?

And yes, if an internet conversation is making you angry, you really should walk away.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:26

crikey hallowean I can't see how rape has anything to do with this, although it is a tad naive to think publishing photos on the internet in a seductive pose in suspenders and a red bask might give the wrong impression about your chastity.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 29/10/2008 13:27

I don't think she's asking for it, and agree she can dress how she likes. But if you place a photo of yourself in underwear holding a whip on your myspace account you do kind of suggest you might just be up for a 'good' time. We are in control of the signals we give out. Id be rather shocked to come across a photo of my dh on myspace dressed in leather holding a whip as I would assume he was on the look out for an affair.

The satanic sluts - that's it. Anyone ever heard any of their songs?

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:27

I thought the mail was tongue in cheek..

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:28

I have no problem with how she dresses or how she makes a living. I just don't think she should be worrying thta RB told her grandfather he slept with her when he must know what she looks like and does for a living. I'm not saying JR & RB were right to say what they said. But I think saying that RB had sex with his GD was actually not the worst thing they said. I think they were childish and obsece and dsisrespectful to him, to a 78 yr old man who hasn't done anything wrong and din't deserve this etc.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:28

You wouldn't see nuns sporting that attire .. not that there would be anything wrong with it if they did

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 13:29

I haven't heard of any 'satantic sluts' songs- but no doubt they will be no.1 in download charts some time soon.

Great publicity eh?

PuzzleRocks · 29/10/2008 13:29

Jimjam, they are a dance troupe.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:30

They were disrespectful, distateful and didn't respect privacy. That's all, it's not a moral crusade.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:32

Because it's the same misogynistic attitude to a womens appearance that makes people think that it is acceptable to be disrespectful to a woman. It boils down to the same thing - a woman dressed in slutty outfits means she shouldnt complain if something happens to her that is unsavoury ie making excuses for a man's behaviour based on a woman's appearance.

You are making excuses/acceptable JR & RB's behaviour because Georgina Baillie dresses in a certain way. I'm surprised you can't see what is so fundamentally wrong with that.

How she dresses and JR & RB's behaviour have nothing to do with each other at all.

And as I said before - everyone in employment has a contract with which they have to abide adn within that contract there are clauses regarding behaviour and conduct. They are accountable for the behaviour whether it be in estate agents, on tv or a building site. So yes, gross misconduct would constitute suspension until such time adn an investigation has been completed adn a disciplinary hearnig undertaken. Its basic employment law fgs!

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:32

I said I was getting annoyed, not angry and an internet conversation is still a conversation and can annoy a person in the same way.

I personally mentioned the way she was dressed becasue then to turn round and say :"Worst of all my poor grandfather had to confront the fact I'd slept with such a rat. What girl would ever want to have to tell her grandad who she has slept with?" makes me laugh. Errr the sort of girl whose grandfather knows this is what you look like love!!!!!

But to insinuate that anyone is saying that she deserves to be raped for how she looks is just ridiculos and unfair and unplesant.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:32

and might I add there is nothing wrong with calling yourself satanic slut and I can't imagine why anyone could get the wrong impression

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:34

In fact I will reclaim the streets and walk around my village clad in a bask and call myself a slut..

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:36

No, it's not a moral crusade. I just find it incredibly distasteful when it is suggested that a woman shouldnt complain about distasteful comments made about her, and to family members because of how she dresses/her career. It is a misogynistic attitude to have.

at JJ's DH being dressed up like that

PuzzleRocks · 29/10/2008 13:37

Thomcat

I have been to many of the same clubs and events as Georgina Baillie. Before I was a Mum I frequented the goth/rock scene dressed as what most would consider provocatively. I have slept with two men, one 14 yr relationship and my husband. How someone dresses is not necessarily a reflection of their morality. The biggest sluts I know look like Laura Ashley models.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:37

It's a bit cold for parading in basques dear

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 29/10/2008 13:38

DH would look hideous . But that's the point isn't it?If I saw a man dressed like that moaning that his grandfather now knew he was sexually active (not saying she's saying that) then my eyebrows would raise a little....

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:39

Absolutely puzzle.

You can't see the irony in compalining that your GF knows you slept with RB when he also knows you are a burlesque dancer in the Satanic Sluts and dress and put pics of yourself in the internet dressed as said satantic slut.

I have never said becasue of the way she dresses she doesn't deserve the right to complain.

I just think that the worrying about your GF knowing who you've slept with when clearly you are not a virgin and he can see you dressed up in bondage gear etc and that you strip for a living is a bit mad!

She has a right to be upset at how her GF was spoken to and that her private business was talked about on air etc, of course she does.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:42

I think raising an eyebrow a little is fine. To suggest she has no right to be pissed off about being used to harangue her grandad it is what is OTT.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:43

There's absolutely nothing wrong with her or anyone being up for it, i think the point was its not mysogynistic and her grandfather and her right to privacy was not respected by a couple of twits.

wintera · 29/10/2008 13:43

He once told Steve Coogan not to be so foolish as to f*ck sluts who talk to the press. He told him to stick to Thai girls who can't speak English.

Sorry but thats funny No?? Distateful - but funny!

MinkyBorage · 29/10/2008 13:43

I have heard from a friend of a friend (I know Inknow, but reliable I reckon) that JR and his wifey 'get people in' to satisfy their um needs!
