Have we not had a discussion about this? I'm surprised.

Seedy, sordid, unfunny little men pad obscene amounts of money to be obscene.

What's your view?

These things just tend to snowball, everyone likes to jump on the bandwagon it's a bit like a lynch mob

fruitstick · 29/10/2008 12:58

The furore around this is ridiculous. 'aspiring model' Georgie seems to be be doing quite well out of it and I'm not entirely sure why it is worth more than a grovelling apology to Andrew Sachs, big donation by R&B to his favourite charity and move on.

The accusations of misogyny are hypocritical. So it's ok for a girl to have a one night stand with a notorious womaniser (even in 1996) but not ok to make jokes about it. The misogyny is being so outraged on the girl's behalf.

If you want to be treated like a lady, keep your knickers on!

wessexghoul · 29/10/2008 12:59

When is the real news coming back, does anyone know?

MinkyBorage · 29/10/2008 13:00

if they're suspended, does that mean we can stop paying them?!

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 13:01

He is Tim Vine's brother

The misogyny is a total red herring - I don't see why this is remotely misogynistic

TBH if some religious group like Muslims were complaining about anything as trivial as this we'd all be outraged about our rights to freedom of speech and our glorious BBC...

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:01

Have to say I clicked on a link on anothr thread earlier about some awful dress a bride worse. There was a huge pic on the front page of this Georgina person taken from her myspace page. Oh my Goodness. And she's worried about her grandfather knowing she slept with RB etc. She should be far more worried about what her grandfather thinks of her general appearance.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:02

What I don't get is the photo that accompanies her comments, it's not really reflective of the story is it?

darkpunk · 29/10/2008 13:02

oh..lol..i thought you were going to say grape or something..

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:04

ha ha they'll be suspended on full pay of course!

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:05

look at Georgina's photo i mean come on it hardly punctuates a serious point ..

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:09

I think it's the GF that deserves the apology not her tbh, look at her, does she look like she cares that people know she's slept with RB? ank-caused-severe-offence.html

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:09

sorry

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:10

What the hell difference does it make what she looks like?

Misogyny is rife.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:13

It's not what she looks like in as much as she is courting attention and publicity. If I had a serious point to make I just wouldn't be clinging to a pole and pouting .. maybe that's where Gordon's going wrong .. it's got bugger all to do with mysogyny the same would be true if the sexes were reversed..

fruitstick · 29/10/2008 13:15

why on earth is it misogynistic?

No-one is criticising her for sleeping with Russell brand, she's clearly comfortable with who she is and fair play to her.

What is misogynistic is people being offended on her behalf as if somehow her honour has been tarnished in a Jane Austen like betrayal.

Being disrespectful to an old man who has done nothing to deserve it is what is the issue here, the lingerie just helps sell papers.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:17

It's offensive to her grandfather above all and just not appropriate to brag who you have shagged on air.. quite distasteful..

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:17

I'm personally not saying JR & RB should be allowed to say what they said becasue she looks like a slut. I'm saying that it's laughable for hr to say things like "Worst of all my poor grandfather had to confront the fact I'd slept with such a rat. What girl would ever want to have to tell her grandad who she has slept with?". She should be more concerned that her grandftaher must know what she does for a living and how she dreesses and wants the world to see her dressed

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 29/10/2008 13:19

Agree with fruitstick.

She can sleep with who she likes and is presumably savvy enough to hold her own in a bit of banter with RB. Not fair to bring her grandfather into it. He has no need to know who she's slept with. Especially when it's someone as embarrassing as RB

Suspension OTT though.

What's the name of her band? Something and the sluts?

moyasmum · 29/10/2008 13:19

rb and jr are well known (and paid) for their near the knuckle comments and they are often incredibly rude on their show. Thats why they are so successful, and they do it very well.

I dont care who slept with who,i dont care about exposure in the media, what i heard was escalating bullying, which shouldnt be allowed.

If two oiley blokes from work, i barely knew ,but had to be courteous to, phoned me up repeatedly, and acted like rb and jr i would be dreadfully hurt, the fact it was then broadcast just increased the hurt.

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 13:20

Can we all not just wait to see what she says in the News of the World on Sunday?

Imagine if Sachs actually never asked for it to be edited! The BBC Timeline seems to suggest that he didn't, or at least they seem to have left that info out.

how funny would it be if they discovered that he never did. Sure he can still be offended but it would change things a bit!

I hate the Daily Mail!

tiredemma · 29/10/2008 13:20

Satanic Sluts.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:20

She's not courting attention at all. Read further down - this happened a couple of years ago and she's said nothing to the media. No-one would have been any the wiser had RB and JR not mentioned in in a radio broadcast. The press are probably hounding her for a 'comment' regarding this. Why shouldnt she comment? How ridiculous to say she is courting this attention when it's RB and JR that have thrust her in the limelight with their puerile and misogynistic humour.

And yes - misogynistic. Why does it matter that she dresses a certain way? That she dresses the way she does entitle people to broadcast her private life to the nation and to family members who'd probably not care to know who she chose to have dalliances with for "a laugh"? But, if she dressed in a twinset with pearls it'd be just awful I suppose?

In fact, I'm surprised Georgina Baillie hasnt been raped many times. She's clearly "asking for it"

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 13:21

agree fruitstick, it's not on to ham up how honour has been tarnished when it obviously hasn't. It's clear from the photo she has no honour and nor should she.. but she does have the right to have her privacy respected.

Hallowean · 29/10/2008 13:23

Are you actually reading out loud what you are typing???

Thomcat · 29/10/2008 13:23

Pathetic to make comments like
"In fact, I'm surprised Georgina Baillie hasnt been raped many times. She's clearly "asking for it" " Don't be so ridiculously OTT. No-one has said that, hinted at that, or anything. Ohhh I might start to get annoyed in aminurte and have to walk away.
