no. it is quite sweet.

person selling stuff and making lots of money is less so.

AbbeyA · 18/10/2008 22:40

I wasn't paying a lot of attention but I'm pretty sure she got to keep them-it was on the local news.

FAQ · 18/10/2008 22:44

very sad that she's had to sell the stuff to pay for her care and that the Titanic International Society didn't win the lots so they could be given back to her.

AbbeyA · 18/10/2008 22:46

If someone googles it-I haven't time as I'm off to bed-I am almost certain she got them back!

ladymariner · 18/10/2008 22:52

Don't know if she got them back or not, but do feel that its a very sad world we live in when an old lady has to sell precious mementos to be able to afford care

totalmisfit · 18/10/2008 23:01

AbbeyA · 19/10/2008 09:16

I know an old gentleman who saw it sail out of Southampton. There are plenty of people still alive who were around in 1912!!

poshbloodencrustedwellies · 19/10/2008 18:23

I read today that,David Gest had visited her and offered her £13k so she wouldn't have to sell.

I saw this but thought if she hasn't got any relatives that she wanted to leave it to then why not? At least the person that bought it would be a collector that would look after it and sell it on. It went for what it was worth and will stay a collector's item. Makes sense.

southeastastra · 19/10/2008 20:54

it's okay david gest paid her fees

ladymariner · 19/10/2008 21:53

Hurrah for david gest, thats really nice of him.

FAQ · 19/10/2008 22:03

I can't find anything that said he paid all of her fees - only that he gave her £3000 - but the stuff still had to be sold
