people aren't panicking just yet there.

lots have a lot on their plate right now.

they're not a panicky lot for the most part, especially when getting your money means getting up off your fat ass and waiting in a long line in very hot temps.

besides, a deal will be done, it's just a matter of hammering out some details.

I am waiting to see what happens today.Apparently nationwide is very safe and has in fact been inundated with new depositors. There is very little difference between their assets and their debts so seems fairly safe.have applied for 2 northern rock accounts though which take 5 days to set up and will move money then if things still look bad

Romy7 · 30/09/2008 10:08

my north american mortage, and house i need to sell in the new year are starting to make me come out in hives. if it was just money i wouldn't be too upset, but if we can't sell the house, or have to accept way less than we paid for it, we won't be able to buy or rent a place where we need to because of work. tent maybe? won't work in february in canada though, will it? and a 7 hour commute every day is just plain ridiculous...
that job dh wanted to take might well be the straw that broke the camel's back...
why is it when things start to look up for us the skies open and we get a huge cold shower? bah humbug. i need coffee with sugar this morning.

Ah see nationwide is a BUILDING SOCIETY

One of those quaint old fashioned things that had to make sure they had enough income/assets to balance out their expenses/liabilities.

Do you remember that demutualisation was meant to be good for business because it freed up these institutions to go off and raise money in the wholesale markets?

Hollow laugh

I'm off to join Nationwide. I like the sound of their Micawberish policies. After all, isn't that what you want from a financial institution? Micawberishness?

My money is in the nationwide and am leaving it htere as NR has stopped new savings accounts and we are exchanging next week!
