I know it's awful.
I was at a church holiday playscheme when ds2 was a baby just walking. I was a helper and as the adults were chatting and discussing the group I brought up the question 'who's the first aider?' They said who it was but I thought it sounded flimsy as I'd not heard of her doing a course. Maybe she'd done one years ago?
Anyway, a teen girl I knew came running back in with ds2 who was choking on a piece of apple. Everyone froze and I just went into action, luckily freeing the apple. It was so scary.
Reading this story makes me realise how lucky we were that day. I'm definitely gong to do first aid or brush up on my skills on the bbc site. I'll link it in a minute.
