I'm going to take my woman-hating, misogynist, thuggish ass off to bed.

I'm not going to take any of the insults on this thread personally, however, as I know they've only been made because I'm a woman, and pregnant as well.

msdemeanor · 01/09/2008 23:04

Nobody reports lies like that about a male politician? Like nobody reported that McCain's adopted daughter was really his secret black love child?

Can you show me some evidence that Obama is a creationist?
And also can you find me someone who thinks creationism is the crap that it is who thinks it deserves to be taught in schools?

She's in favour of drilling for oil in Alaska

She's in favour of the death penalty

She thinks people should be allowed to carry guns.

She thinks children should be taught that
it is a fact that God created the world in 6 days.

She is anti abortion.

And people think that the worst thing you can say about her is that she is bringing up her daughter's child as her own?

Give me strength!

I didn't say it wasn't a bad thing to say. I said it wasn't a misogynist thing to say. as for the rumours, as it happens, I would be a good deal MORE upset if we adopted a mixed race child and people then claimed it was my husband's secret black lovechild he'd fathered when being unfaithful to me. THis sensitivity is one of hte zillion reasons I'm not running for the US presidency

Megglevache · 01/09/2008 23:08

Where are these pictures of her 6 months pregnant with a flat tummy and then huge at 7 months?

msdemeanor · 01/09/2008 23:09

I linked to Time magazine on the creationist issue. You've just made it up re Obama. I thought you didn't like scurrilous rumours - or does that only apply to rumours about women?

bobthebuddha · 01/09/2008 23:10

oh you could just take this fucking woman's word for it and accept that I - HAVE - NEVER - SAID - I - BELIEVED - IT.

You really take the cake. This is pointless, I can see you now with your fingers in your bloody ears 'lalalalalala I'm not listening to any of you. I have decided what you all think. Do not confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up'

Truly ironic, given all you've been saying.

Talking about press/internet rumours & stories does not mean we believe them..it's not hard to fathom.

I was just thinking about the effect that all this Sarah Palin stuff is having on the american election. Do you think that she could be a Democrat?

You mean, does she believe that Michelle Obama is a liar and cheat and her husband Obama is her innocent victim? Is that the ultimate test of feminism these days?

No my love, I said that this kind of theory gains currency in people's minds because it's not unheard of.

Why on earth should I have to submit to you and say it couldn't possibly be true & everyone's utterly beastly for mentioning it? I don't necessarily believe it, but my God, stranger things have happened and I have no more access to the true facts and the inner workings of that family than you do. It's most unlikely to be true but it could be. Sorry I can't be unequivocal enough for you but you'll have to live with it.

msdemeanor · 01/09/2008 23:23

and do you expect us to think less of Obama if his wife had lied to him for the last ten years? How very, very odd.

WendyWeber · 01/09/2008 23:27

meggle, 6-7-months-pregnant-with-flat-tummy-in-Feb link is at 2235.

My PC crashed while I was looking for date of suddenly-huge-in-March pic so I have to find it again (google isn't helping, strangely)

Re male policians being treated like this. Yes they do. I've quoted several examples, including having the true parentage of their child being challenged. I think you are being absolutely ridiculous, to be honest. YOu have decided that just because people don't agree that spreading mean rumours about a political candidate is misogyny, that must mean we are all wicked woman-haters with no human decency - a pretty brutal, unpleasant and global criticism of people you have never met, but have actually agreed with you on other issues. Frankly, I think that could easily be construed as misogyny in itself.
Women don't have to think something is misogynistic just because you do. And women don't have to support another women just because we share a similar anatomy. If you think a satirical use of 'womb-carriers' (or whatever) is a sign that the person who says that is self-hating, I really don't know what to make of your phrase 'girl cheerleaders' to describe anyone who simply disagrees with you that this specific rumour is misogynistic, as opposed to par for the course for a fiercely competitive political system with a penchant for rumour and dirty tricks. It's just name calling, you know. I think we all know you for your terrier-like determination, but nobody has called you names, and you are letting yourself down by doing it.

combustiblelemon · 01/09/2008 23:38

I don't think it's true, and I don't think that any of these are either. But I still think that this is more about politics than misogyny.

bobthebuddha · 01/09/2008 23:49

And you know what? If it were true (not that I think it's likely, as I realise I will have to keep repeating ad infinitum to keep you remotely happy), I'd consider it a shame that the family thought it necessary, but rather nice that they were a tight enough unit to provide sufficient support to keep the baby in the family and brought up with love. All the pictures show he's a loved child. But as I also have to keep repeating ad infinitum, history is littered with cases where families felt such religious and social pressure that a child born out of wedlock was passed off as the grandparent's own. Whatever you want to think, stating this fact is not a reflection on my decency. And it's very insulting of you to suggest otherwise. You're so wrapped up in decrying others' supposed indecency that you can't see when you're straying over the boundary yourself.
