My uncle was arrested at gunpoint from our house in a night raid in about 1980. I slept through it all. My Mum answered the door to the police in bullet proof vests and said 'ooh you look just life the professionals.'

The kicked uncle in the balls and hauled him off.

Released him a few hours later (mistaken identity).

It was new years eve in the days that people used to drink and drive. They cordoned off the village with road blocks so drunken neighbours driving home met with police. And of course the entire village knew!

well he looks a darn sight better dressed than most of the teenager/early 20's blokes round here (for starters it looks as those his trousers are actually pulled up properly lol)

he's lucky they didn't shoot him for being a terrorist. we all know what happened last time someone with a dark skin tone had guns pointed at him on an english train.

She still has the piss ripped out of her for it now.

FAQ · 09/07/2008 13:31

must have been bloody scary.

If you're guilty then you may be sort of expecting to be found at some point, and possibly by armed police, but if you're innocent and step off a train to go home and have a shit load of guns pointed at you.......

They arrested some terrorists at gunpoint in the centre of town a few weeks ago here. Looking at the photos it must have been scary for everyone else in the cafe because a) the terrorists had a baby with them (so must have looked non-terrorist like) and b) the police were all plain clothes- so must have looked like random people running around with guns.

Bloody terrifying. I'd have been panicking they were going to kill me, like poor Jean Charles de Menezes.

I bet "matched the description" is code for "young black man".

This happened to ds1 as he walked out of a restaurant one lunch time. Unmarked car screeched to a halt and armed police jumped out and surrounded him. He "matched the description" of an armed robber who had assaulted someone in the area earlier. Terrifying.
