I just saw him on the news & his wife appears to be sticking up for him.
@FeelSoSorry he reminds me a bit of the jester from Rentaghost.

Noooo Timothy Claypole was adorable

I have such admiration for these women for coming forward and being prepared to testify. Having gone through cross examination in court, it is utterly brutal, dehumanising and triggering. They will be replaying his defence’s words to them for a while yet, and reliving what happened. From my heart to theirs I hope they in time will realise just how brave they have been to put themselves through this.

I agree completely about the courage that took. The tragic thing is that if they were just a lone voice in the wilderness they would likely not have been listened to in the first place.

I will say little else on that topic on this thread, as there are obviously men posting here who like that type of thing.

PeasandcarrotsJenny · 20/10/2026 16:59

I used to love him but of course the revelations have changed that. I believe them all - I saw first hand at two of his gigs he literally stood on stage and offered sex to any girls. 🤮

cisisaslur · 20/10/2026 17:05

I have to say (reluctantly) that I was one of those women who found him very attractive. I thought he was funny, a bit unhinged definitely, but I like that. I would definitely not have thrown myself at him though.
I totally believe all the women that have come forward, I reported a historical rape that happened to me in the early 90’s. The CPS wouldn’t proceed as it was his word against mine, I’m praying (not RB style) that there is enough evidence to get a conviction for those brave women.

TotaleclipseinFrance · 20/10/2026 14:50

I totally get that how attractive a man is has nothing to do with his propensity to rape, but this IS a widely held belief and it's important to be wise to it.

Personally I think the 'animal' text exchange and him (an error on HIS part) saying sorry is very, very damning and could be the thing that takes him down.

Does the text still exist? Sorry that I don't know.

Why say sorry if it was all good, consensual fun?

Edited

I think Brand is anything but attractive. I never ever found him appealing.

One thing I have become more aware of is how much variation there is in what women find attractive. Eg one of my good friends at university had a huge crush on Tony whatisname from Time Team. Even more baffling is how Pete Davidson seems to get super attractive women. Just because one woman finds a man really ugly it doesn't mean all women will. And just because one woman finds a man attractive doesn't mean all women want to sleep with them. However, this is completely incomprehensible to some men because it doesn't fit with their already held world view of some men getting all the women, women being shallow etc etc. So they struggle to comprehend that a man they see as "one of the lucky ones" could be turned down by a woman. It's not their (messed up) view of the world that is wrong, it must be that the women are lying! And they come onto Mumsnet to explain this fact to women. So tedious.

You haven't thought about the mechanics. Both my husbands raped me anally, leaving injuries. You're face down with a man's full weight pressing on you - and is dick is in your bum.

I'm pretty good at getting out of physically dangerous situations: XH1 strangled me before I left; I realised he was actually killing me and stuck my thumbs in his eyes. But on both those other occasions, I was pinned down and the only possible action would've been to buck hard against his weight. Which would've forced him further inside and caused incredible pain, probably devastating injury. And still not succeeded in getting him off!

I expect you can understand why I'm pissed off by throwaway remarks about bumsex and particularly bum rape. Use your brains.

No doubt the court will make a decision about the mechanics in Brand"s case.

Wantingachangeoflif3 · 20/10/2026 07:09

Yes, thats what i read, he said ladies line up at my dressing room, I will deal with you all one by one ...and apparently there were several in a queue... makes you want to throw up.

Makes you, but obviously not them want to throw up, or are you saying they were manipulated into joining the queue against their will?

Getalittle · 20/10/2026 17:53

Ugh. I have just read the evidence given by the victim who was raped at his home anally and it has made me feel quite sick.

What an absolute cretin he is

It is true that not all attractive men will be attractive to all women but they certainly will be attractive to a lot.
This is about personality as well as looks.

Unattractive men are, by definition, unattractive.

There are undeniably traits in men that are broadly considered to be attractive.

Much as I think Brand is probably guilty and accept that a man's attractiveness has nothing to do with his propensity to rape, I can't pretend that a man who is 6ft tall has the edge over a man who's only 5 feet tall, either.

So instead of pretending that preferences don't exist, I think educating men about the fact that propensity to rape has nothing to do with a man's attractiveness is better.

Getalittle · 20/10/2026 17:54

I wasn’t sure he would be convicted based on the evidence given so far but I do think this victim’s statement is compelling entro turn it around

It’s truly extraordinary to see someone reply without any empathy to someone sharing such traumatic experiences.

No ‘I’m so sorry you went through that’ or ‘god how awful’, just a business as usual response with no acknowledgement of what was said.

I am so sorry for what the women on this thread have been through and would like them to know they are heard and believed by people reading, even if posters who seem to be MRAs seem incapable of acknowledging women’s trauma even in a direct interaction.

throwawayimplantchat · 20/10/2026 18:04

Also @KeepPumping, you claimed that (this is a direct quote from you) “most fit young women could kick and scratch or push a bloke off them” and I just want you to understand how much this shows you don’t understand the physical power difference between men and women.

Even a fit, young woman is likely to be significantly weaker than an entirely average, untrained man. This is because puberty creates an enormous difference in muscle mass, strength and physical power, particularly in the upper body. This isn't a matter of opinion, it's well-established physiology. Please feel free to research this, I appreciate it something you may genuinely not have known until now.

Of course, some women are stronger than some men, and women can and do successfully fight off attackers. But the suggestion that “most” fit young women could kick, scratch or push a man to overpower them completely misunderstands the huge physical disadvantage women can face when confronted by male violence.

Well yes

But unfortunately for some men there is a much deeper confusion with consent. The idea that because some women consent to sex with a man all women would consent. And the idea that because a woman consents to sex with one man she would consent to sex with any man (or even that the first man has the right to consent on her behalf. As seen in Cornell and Cyprus).

I agree with you about rape being about power as much or more than just sex/sexual attractiveness. But that might be a bit advanced to the sort of man who finds it hard to believe a woman would have said no to Brand because he was popular at the time. I'm all for breaking down rape myths. But some people are too invested in their own realities for that to work.

Its so stark when you see it in black and white though isn’t it?

Such a horrible and traumatic experience shared and zero acknowledgment of it at all in response.

I think you're doing the average man a bit of a disservice here: the concept of a 'type' as regards attraction is understood by both women AND men.

I think that most understand that a man can be widely considered attractive but refused on the grounds of not being 'my type.'

I think that you'd have to have very low IQ as a man not to get this. I mean seriously intellectually challenged.

Even men who are attractive (and moderately sane) know that they're not going to be everybody's cup of tea.

Same for women.

Not the average man.

But some men are below average in terms of empathy/theory of mind/ability to comprehend other people are individuals/basic human decency. And a level lower than that you have men who are very far below average in those areas. And a few levels down you have men who are Russel Brand/Andrew Tate supporters.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/10/2026 19:05

Going by some of the couples I have known over the years, who still seem to be together and to be reasonably contented that it is so, the old aphorism about there being someone for everyone if they look hard enough might even be true.

Who was it said something about how nice of God to cause Mr X to marry Mrs X and thus make only two people unhappy instead of four? Sort of the opposite of that.

100%
Katy Perry is predatory - an older man grabbing and squeezing a teenage girl’s bum like that would be vilified, as she should be for forcing herself on Justin Bieber. I can totally see why she and RB got together.

Not trying to make an unlinked connection here but didnt she grow up in a heavily religious household as a child?

Strange he has also gone to that as well. Whats that all about?

mids2019 · 20/10/2026 21:34

One thing that is becoming increasingly apparent is the number of onlookers from Brand's entourage that did nothing when the alleged assaults happened. I personally feel these are not all bad people but people working in a culture where complaining against a powerful figure would lose your career in highly competitive (and ruthless) media industry. I think this may have stretched to some of the alleged victims. I think is a factor in at least witnesses not speaking out at the time .....they didn't want to lose a career in an industry many would sorely love to work in.

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 21:42

Woman five’s account is harrowing. How can anyone believe that she’s making that up

its abhorrent what he did

mids2019 · 20/10/2026 21:52

I think the evidence of at least the statements are becoming more compelling. The culture at the time of the alleged offenses seems quite obscene and I wonder how much the 'let's culture of the early 2000s covered up.

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 22:10

If he’s only guilty of the rapes, that’s enough to get him a custodial sentence
