I know women thought he was sexy, but to me he came across as slimey and chav muck a hippy/rock star wannabe, wants to be funny but isnt.

I cant imagine either being a professional judge in a courtroom and having a defendant in front of me whom has masturbated men in public toilets, sleeps with women non stop and also has been in the street urinating publicly in little to no clothing in a busy London street. Its just all totally bizzare and I cant wait for him to be sent down.

Yes, the video of him pissing himself in the street as a ‘joke’ is grim AF.

How weeing in the street in front of the british public including children regarded as comedy/joke/fun is beyond me.
Hes scum.

Koriko · 20/10/2026 10:34

I had friends back in the day who really fancied him. I didn't mind his comedy ca mid noughties (even though that was clearly also told from the lens of a sex maniac), but I changed my mind after reading his book (My Booky Wook I believe it was called, what else). He came across as really damaged and predatory, it grossed me out. It's been so long I can't remember everything, but apparently his dad would take him to brothels starting in his mid teens, and he openly admitted to respecting only one woman in his life, who was sort of a mother figure, and that everyone else were just an opportunity for a shag. Grim.

Persephonia1966 · 20/10/2026 10:34

It's shouldnt be relevant whether some women thought he was hot or not. That always felt more like a pantomime type persona and I assumed the people going along with it were partly doing it to maintain the kayfabe sort of thing. But that might just be because I don't fond him attractive

But some blokes on here are using the fact that some women (apparently) found him attractive to argue that the women in the case must also have found him attractive and therefore be lying because -insert incel style belief stystem about how women only complain about beinf assaulted by ugly/poor men and because Brand was rich/charismatic (bleurgh) he is the type of man women don't complain about. Until they do but then it must be because he is rich. So...

If a woman makes a claim of assault the following things count against her

  1. Her own sexual history
  2. His sexual history as any hint of promiscuity should have been known about by the women and it's her fault for ignoring it
  3. If the man is poor/ugly/scruffy as she wouldn't have complained if he wasn't
  4. If the man is rich/famous as she is only complaining because of this

Super.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 20/10/2026 10:38

I was sexually assaulted by a man that looked like Brad Pitt I kid you not! I still didn’t want him grabbing my bum
in the sea and refusing to leave me alone - hands everywhere. It’s put me off Brad Pitt though know it’s not his fault.

Sorry that quote/ comment was for keep pumping. You had also replied to the pig. And tagged you by mistake.
Mumsnet hq please can you remove keep pumping YouTube links to videos of women being raped and not freezing. Its vile. Hopefully no one is clicking on the link. I haven't. Youre a slimeball keep pumping.

Thanks 🙂 The video he linked is of a Florida woman wrestling a man who attacked her at the gym. They're both fully clothed and she got away unharmed. The man was caught later. The young woman is a bodybuilder.

The poster who shared the link seems like a weirdo, but the video itself isn't offensive.

Right. So therefore all women have the strength of a bodybuilder, and we can all fight off anyone who has been through male puberty if we just try hard enough?

It’s so depressing, I think some people beleive, why would a man who could get plenty of women need to rape, not understanding rape has little to do with sex. It’s the same as the Andrew Tate type men who believe.. I have to rape women it’s not my fault there all so picky, what am I supposed to do.

That seemed to be the gist of it. As well as me supposedly claiming that ALL women 'freeze'. Not an assertion I made anywhere. Ridiculous, pathetic man.

But to go back to the issue of whether Brand was considered attractive or not, yes, he seems to have shagged a lot of willing women, and a lot liked him back in the day. Even if many of us personally found him fairly revolting.

But as Persephonia1966 rightly says, this has NOTHING whatsoever to do with whether he's likely to be a rapist or not. It is wholly irrelevant. Rape is about power and subjugation, not "your ability to get sex" (or not). This is absolutely basic knowledge about rape and what it is about. From what we've heard so far, Brand seems to have had a big thing about flouting boundaries and ignoring consent, not to mention 'sudden' attacks/changes, which several of his accusers have mentioned,. So yeah, that would easily fall into the coercion and 'rape' category. That appears to have included women who showed him little or no interest sexually AND some who did.

Because it's worth a reminder that even if a woman gives consent for sex that STILL doesn't meaning she has given consent for all and any sexual acts (eg anal). We are allowed to say no at ANY point and a man carrying on and not respecting that is a rapist. So idiots claiming that something like just going back to a hotel room is therefore consenting to sex and any sexual act he wishes to perform on them are way, way off the mark.

Yes, clearly not everyone has watched the “Consent is Like Tea” video, and have some very outdated beliefs. 🤦‍♀️

Yes, everyone seems desperate to say how they always found him repulsive but I think it's important not to deny that he did have a certain charisma, charm, wit and intelligence as well as a forceful personality. To pretend that he was always just some pathetic, smelly scruff is to deny the powers he was equipped with as a successful predator.

This does need saying, I used to find him amusing and quick witted much though it grieves me to admit it. For me it was the Andrew Sachs and Jonathan Ross thing that made me start to think he was a repulsive creep. Ross seemed to escape that unscathed which shows how men still get a pass in relation to nasty behaviour. I read his first book and found it well written and funny, so i began to read his second one and by chapter 3 or so i was revolted by his boastful sexism and stopped reading. I think by this stage in his career he no longer felt the need to rein it in; he felt he could get away with anything. We don't always immediately know who the wrong 'uns are, this is one of the reasons they can do such awful things. In my defence i always loathed Saville, thought Gary Glitter was sinister, and that there was something "off" about Rolf Harris.

Yes, the idea that rape can only be carried out by those who are unattractive and a man who is attractive (or who many find attractive, even if not everyone does) can't possibly be a rapist because "he doesn't need to rape to get sex" - as if anyone needs to rape and/or it's just about getting sex - is an incredibly dangerous and inaccurate one.

Look at Ted Bundy, for example. Or John Cannan, the guy they think was probably the killer of Suzy Lamplugh. Sure, these became murderers/serial killers too, but they both had prolific previous 'careers' as rapists. Rape is about degradation, entitlement, hatred and power, not sex.

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 11:49

@TotaleclipseinFrance

i didn’t ever fancy him but plenty of people did. He married katy perry, she’s a beautiful international pop star. I remember saying to a friend, what does she see in him and the friend outlined why he was just as desirable as she was

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 11:51

It’s clear he didnt rape because he needed to have sex and was a sex addict.

He raped because he enjoyed exerting power and control and inflicting humiliation and pain on women

Wantingachangeoflif3 · 20/10/2026 07:09

Yes, thats what i read, he said ladies line up at my dressing room, I will deal with you all one by one ...and apparently there were several in a queue... makes you want to throw up.

Yeah I half thought it was a joke.....but apparently not!! 🤢

Like Huw Edwards went to a private clinic when the truth came out about him. Another arrogant entitled celebrity who thinks they are above the rest of the human race and can do what they want.

TotaleclipseinFrance · 20/10/2026 14:50

I totally get that how attractive a man is has nothing to do with his propensity to rape, but this IS a widely held belief and it's important to be wise to it.

Personally I think the 'animal' text exchange and him (an error on HIS part) saying sorry is very, very damning and could be the thing that takes him down.

Does the text still exist? Sorry that I don't know.

Why say sorry if it was all good, consensual fun?

Lugol · 20/10/2026 15:05

Wantingachangeoflif3 · 20/10/2026 09:51

You took it in the wrong way. I was laughing at how a previous poster named him that sarcastically. It was a good joke. If you see my previous comments none of then are in favour of sleazeball Russel brand. Hth

I'm sorry. I completely read it wrong. 💐

I don’t think he will, I see zero remorse on his face. I think he knows full well what he did but doesn’t give a shit.
He’ll move to America where they all seem to fall for his religious/conspiracy theory crap. Or fingers crossed he’ll be found guilty, and he can sit in Belmarsh moaning about the media stitching him up.

Darkershadeofpink · 20/10/2026 16:03

I have such admiration for these women for coming forward and being prepared to testify. Having gone through cross examination in court, it is utterly brutal, dehumanising and triggering. They will be replaying his defence’s words to them for a while yet, and reliving what happened. From my heart to theirs I hope they in time will realise just how brave they have been to put themselves through this.

They are 100% badass. 💪 How the defence attorney was speaking to Claimant One was straight out of the 1960s and was disgusting. SHE THOUGHT HE WAS GAY (this was before he was famous). “Why would you go into a hotel room with a man if you didn’t expect to have sex with him?” 🤦‍♀️

It does make you wonder about the lives, and minds, of the men asking that question, doesn't it.
