It was an actual award "shagger of the year" and I think he won it twice. Memories a bit foggy as this was so long ago, but it was very well known about the sleeping around. Women loved him and were throwing themselves at him at that time.

The only appealing thing about him at the time (if you could see past the sexist jokes) was his quick wit and how he used the English language; I’ll give him that.

I am gen. X too and he always struck me as unhinged. I'm by no means saying we ALL fancied him.

Yes, everyone seems desperate to say how they always found him repulsive but I think it's important not to deny that he did have a certain charisma, charm, wit and intelligence as well as a forceful personality. To pretend that he was always just some pathetic, smelly scruff is to deny the powers he was equipped with as a successful predator.
